Senior Director, Portfolio Management

The Senior Director will be accountable for managing the product and services portfolio for consumers, along with ensuring that all strategic programs and projects are planned, managed, and governed in a consistent, transparent, and disciplined manner.

The Senior Director will champion and lead change management efforts to improve our portfolio and product development processes to bring product and services development activities on par or better than the industry. Key areas of improvement: Portfolio & Program Management, Agile/scrum, and the tools for these practices.

The position requires an experienced program management office professional with the right mix of relevant experience and skills, the ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented product development environment. S(he) will be a program management leader who leads by example, communicates openly and transparently, collaborates cross-functionally with internal and external department stakeholders, acts decisively, and effectively negotiates successful outcomes.

 As the leader of the Portfolio Management, s(he) will foster collaboration across global business and technology organizations, providing sound analysis and change leadership.  Building and maintaining strong internal customer relationships is essential as this position will work with Business Partners, internal staff, and system integrators daily to ensure the delivery of quality products in alignment with nationwide initiatives and requirements across the enterprise.  


  • Work with Business Stakeholders and Executive team to develop short-term and long-term project roadmaps that align with business objectives/priorities and account for resource availability and fiscal benefit to the firm.
  • Own the Consumer products and services portfolio. Develop the portfolio management practices and drive adoption for the business to manage the priorities set within the portfolio.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to a team of program/project managers who use waterfall and the agile/scrum framework for the planning, execution, and delivery of products and services.
  • Overall responsibility for planning, executing, tracking schedule/scope, on-time deployment, and reporting post-mortem benefits for all projects in the portfolio. Lead lesson learned reviews to drive iterative improvements for future projects and enhance the overall maturity of the development process.
  • Enforce consistency and standardize processes across the team and the broader project management organization.
  • Drive improvements in development/deployment practices/processes within teams and across the organization including but not limited to: Detailed business requirements, business cases, project queuing and prioritization, test execution, quality production, and benefit analysis.
  • Drive the adoption of key portfolio management disciplines and tools such as Smartsheets, Jira, Agile/scrum
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring of Consumer leaders and team members on Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and practices.
  • Develop and deliver performance metrics and results for leadership, and to assure compliance management of high impact/high visibility Legal/Regulatory programs.


  • 5+ years in leading or building Program Management Office
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in Program, and Project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of the Portfolio management practice
  • Previous experience in managing a complex, large portfolio of projects.
  • 5+ years of direct leadership experience ideally from telecom or fast-paced technology firm
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and a solid understanding of project management practices, techniques, and best practices
  • Strong leadership qualities and organizational skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, assignments, and roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex organization where the ability to discover and internalize diverse stakeholder goals is critical to brokering solutions that are in the best interest of the Consumer division and Frontier as a whole.
  • Independent judgment and mature decision-making skills to deal with programs that often have an enterprise-wide scope and may have significant financial and compliance impacts.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels internally and externally as needed to support the strategic goals.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with Financial or Technical focus. MBA is a plus. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®), PMI, Agile and/or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
