The Role:

A Frontier Wholesale Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for providing the necessary pre-sales support in assisting Carrier Sales Representatives and Carrier Partners with technical acumen aligned with our offerings.  This role serves as the gateway for market intelligence on changing customer requirements for new technology and products. This position works in conjunction with Centralized Engineering, Network Engineering, Planning organizations, and Product Development to deliver Frontier products and services seamlessly to our Carrier base. The SE is a key contributor to the overall value proposition presented to our customers.  

Your Functions:

The SE assess applications and develops the most appropriate solution. The SE participates in team immersive sales approaches and communicates concisely to all partners, internal or external, to aid in closing opportunities. The SE interfaces with national carrier leadership and teams to foster successful partnerships focused on Frontier’s Wholesale objectives. The SE is not limited to these functions and will be expected to go above and beyond normal day to day scope. The SE does what it takes to get the job done right, on time and most importantly right the first time.

This role's success is measured and compensated through a team approach. They are measured on the success of the Carrier sales team to meet or exceed quotes and net incremental revenue growth.  In addition, they are measured on meeting overall customer request dates and ensuring that the proper applications and products are executed in a timely fashion.  Also, it is expected to drive customer satisfaction and revenue growth.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide pre-sale engineering support. To craft custom network solutions to the desktop focused on application selling to drive new revenue objectives in a consultative sales team approach.
  • Provide pricing components that make up the network solution.
  • Provide post-sale project management support to the sales team and customer base for delivery of products and integrated services solutions.
  • Work closely with customers, vendors, operations and engineering departments on implementation and coordination issues.
  • Assist in training initiatives as required on new technologies, processes and company procedures that affect service delivery groups within Frontier.
  • Customer presentations of designed solutions.
  • Stay current on all existing and new products.
  • Stay fresh and in tune with market technology and industry standards.
  • Assist product marketing with new product development and rollout.

What you’ll need:

  • The (SE) must have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in voice/data/video communication services and 5+ years of engineering / technical account management. Have a working knowledge of the following technology which includes but is not limited:
    • Demonstratable knowledge of wave service (802.3ae, 802.3cd lan-phy, wan-phy)
    • Dedicated Internet / IP Transit.
    • Working knowledge of Metro Ethernet Standards service types: E-Line, E-LAN topologies
    • In depth knowledge of Quality of Service that addresses Service Level Agreements specifically addresses Y.1564, Y.1731, and RFC 2544.
    • Dark Fiber fundamentals – fiber characterization testing (ORL, OTDR, CM, PMD)
    • Geospatial capabilities, geo-coding, reverse geo-coding.
    • Position requires detailed organization.
    • Highly motivated individual accustomed to pressured deadlines and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Certifications a plus:  CCNA, CCNP, MEF
    • CRM capabilities and working knowledge
    • Demonstrated track record of interfacing with customers and other telecom providers.
    • Candidate should be 100% professional and capable of effectively communicating (written and verbal) complex issues to audiences with various skill level, organizational skills, and computer skills particularly around Microsoft Office products. 
    • Collaboration – verbal, visual and written a must. Thought transfer required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT, and/or equivalent work experience is desirable with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Ethernet networking (Routers, Switches).
