Video Operations Engineer

Description

The Video Network Engineer position in Fort Wayne supports 24x7 surveillance and operations within a master head-end environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Monitor linear video content and network elements, to ensure reliable and high-quality delivery of linear video content to downstream technical facilities
  • Detect, isolate and resolve faults in accordance with prescribed methods & standards
  • Document network faults and resolutions
  • Support change management projects within the facility

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Working knowledge of MPEG2, AVC & HEVC video transport within ASI & IP multicast environments
  • Working knowledge of the Network OSI model specifically layers 1, 3 and 4
  • Ability to learn new concepts, make autonomous decisions, effectively work under pressure, identify & troubleshoot problems, and perform required repairs in a timely manner
  • Team player with the ability to accurately complete detailed tasks, communicate across functional elements within the organization and provide accurate and concise updates to peers and/or executive teams
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Access
  • Working knowledge of linear video systems, cable head-end environments, basic IP networking & network Management Systems (NMS)
  • Strong organizational, oral, written, and presentation skills

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of CommScope’s headend product line
  • Experience with video muxing products, including Harmonic, Imagine Communications, CommScope and Synamedia
  • Experience with satellite receivers specifically designed for linear video reception, decoding, and processing
  • C-band satellite reception experience
  • Working knowledge of MPEG transport, including the ability to analyze transport streams in both ASI & IP environments
  • Working knowledge of video transcoding
  • Experience with optical transmitters & receivers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Access or SQL databases

Requirements: 

Bachelors degree or 4+ years of related experience in Cable, Satellite, or related industry.
