Pay Range $130k - $160k + Benefits 
 
POSITION SUMMARY: 
Under the supervision of the General Counsel, the Associate Counsel, Litigation will provide a broad range of legal analysis, services, support, and counsel, primarily in litigation matters, in addition to other general corporate matters. Success in the role requires effectively working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, being organized, displaying excellent communication and people skills, and maturity in handling business and confidential situations with a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong professionalism, a positive go-getter mentality, and who is eager to learn and develop his or her legal skills. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to independently manage his or her caseload. 
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Independently work cases at all stages of litigation, including but not limited to (i) preparing court documents, (ii) drafting responses, demand letters, pleadings and motions, (iii) researching and summarizing cases, developing legal arguments, preparing reports, and preparing legal memoranda, (v) engaging in all stages of discovery, including responding and propounding discovery, taking and defending depositions, and (v) engaging in negotiations with opposing counsel
  • Review, evaluate, and analyze briefs, petitions, motions, and other pertinent documents filed in a particular case to determine legal issues, scope and complexity of issues raised, and factual accuracy
  • Provide general operational support to the company on an as-needed basis
  • Work with other departments as requested according to business needs
  • Assist the legal team on a variety of tasks, projects, processes, and initiatives as needed
  • Keep track of changes in the ever-shifting legal landscape, and provide timely research, updates and reports on such changes
  • Other duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 
 
Education & Certifications: 
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school; superior academic credentials preferred
  • Member in good standing of the California State Bar
Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of experience in civil litigation, insurance litigation and claims management experience is preferred
  • Experience with breach of contract, construction law, employment law, and corporate law is preferred

  • Must be comfortable with independently working in a fast-paced environment, wearing multiple hats, flexible attitude and quick to react
  • Must have excellent writing, research and analytical skills
  • Must be able to communicate at a professional level with all levels of the company
  • Must be able to conduct complex and difficult legal research
  • Must be able to apply legal principles and precedents to particular set of facts
  • Must be able to independently analyze legal issues through presenting statement of facts, law, and policy
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excels under pressure in demanding, fast-paced environment
