POSITION SUMMARY:
 
As our IT Systems Engineer you’ll have opportunities to be involved in multiple support areas, such as: Assessing systems, determining problems, providing solutions to issues that arise, and designing, managing, upgrading, and brainstorming improvements for systems. You’ll provide 2nd and 3rd level support to staff on all company supported applications, including troubleshooting computer problems, determining their source, and advising on appropriate actions. As a member of our IT team, you’ll be a key contributor in maintaining Freedom Forever’s computer infrastructure and solving any problems that may occur within it.
 
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead change initiatives and workgroups in relevant areas.
  • Oversee the development and installation of new computing infrastructures.
  • Research and select relevant solutions using knowledge of available technologies.
  • Monitor systems in the existing infrastructure to ensure there are no productivity issues.
  • Install and configure operating systems and application software.
  • Implement best practices for system security and data backups.
  • Anticipate potential issues or bottlenecks and identify possible solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all technical issues when they arise.
  • Liaise with vendors and keep relevant stakeholders updated with developments.
  • Create and update SOPs to educate end-users and ensure smoother implementation.
  • Maintain existing software and hardware and upgrade any that have become obsolete.
  • Collaborate with IT staff, providing systems administration, and 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • Support, configure, maintain, and upgrade corporate customer’s on-premises and cloud-based servers.
  • Install and integrate new hardware and applications.
  • Implement and update IT infrastructure and managing update cycles as applicable.
  • Support and administer third-party applications.
  • Set up user accounts, permissions, and passwords.
  • Specify system requirements and design solutions.
  • Provide outstanding user support, in person and/or remote.
  • Other duties as assigned
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Microsoft certifications, including Microsoft Azure, and Citrix certifications are a plus
  • Five (5) years’ experience in a Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator role is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, and Citrix VDI technologies is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Help Desk software, user account management, and remote control
  • Professional client-facing and communication skills with interpersonal skills to assist non-technical-minded individuals with complex technical issues
  • Highly organized with troubleshooting, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Experience within an IT support function in a fast paced or high-volume environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office365 Suite, Google Suite
  • Fundamental knowledge of computing infrastructures, networking concepts, and server management and monitoring tools
  • Proven systems engineering, systems operations, and systems performance analysis skills
  • Proficiency with scripting languages preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or related field experience is preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ABILITIES:
  • Regularly use office equipment and computers for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable reviewing and entering information in a computer for extended periods of time
  • Able to move from sitting to standing positions, bend, twist, and use hands and fingers
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away
  • Can speak clearly so listeners can understand, and listen to understand another person
  • Occasionally lift 5-10 pounds
