                       Pay Range $72K to $85K (DOE) + Benefits

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Payroll Lead works under the supervision of the Director of Payroll as well as the Payroll Manager and is responsible for assisting in performing key payroll projects, processing, audits, and verifications as they relate to payroll and deductions.  The Payroll Lead should have a more in-depth payroll skill set to enable this individual to train/coach/support Payroll Analyst positions.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
 
 
  • Experience in training co-workers, direct reports on all phases of payroll processing and related 
  • Knowledge of relevant software programs related to the processing of payroll 
  • Interface with HR to ensure all payroll transactions are authorized and in compliance with Company policies and procedures 
  • Ability to take on role as a leader/mentor for the payroll team as needed in regards to processing payroll 
  • Interface with employees as needed to answer their questions in regards to payroll-related issues 
  • Perform payroll and benefit audits as necessary to ensure accuracy of data processed through payroll 
  • Review and corroboration of time-keeping data with payroll input 
  • Knowledgeable and compliant in making sure all quarterly reports, including new hires, are being prepared by responsible parties (third party payroll vendors, etc.) 
  • Assist in the maintenance of files/binders containing payroll reports, quarterly contribution reports, and annual reports 
  • Knowledgeable and compliant with year-end adjustments, W-2s and related items 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 
  • Responsible for producing ad hoc reports as requested by other departments 
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 
 
Education & Certifications:  
 
 
  • High School Graduate or GED 
  • Payroll certification (CPP) desirable 
 
 
 
 
 
Experience: 
 
 
  • 4-6 years Accounting and Payroll-related experience 
  • Leadership experience in regard to training/leading direct reports/team, coaching, mentoring 
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
 
  • 4-6 years Accounting and Payroll Experience 
  •  Excellent skills using MS Office, Google Docs and Sheets, Timekeeping and Payroll, Processing software, and QuickBooks 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion 
  • General math skills 
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Excellent data entry skills 
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills 
  • Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills 
  • Effective organizational, stress and time management skills 
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines 
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Experience with HRIS system preferred
  • Experience with Paycom and Workday/ADP preferred
  • Proved leadership skills/experience
 
 
Special Skills & Training: 
 
 
  • Familiar with one or more payroll software platforms, UKG, Paycom and Workday/ADP preferred 
  • Certification in payroll training desirable, either through payroll platform training or through third-party providers
