POSITION SUMMARY:
The Legal Assistant is responsible for carrying out routine tasks such as updating Company files, preparing legal contracts, reviewing documents, and aiding the Legal department. The Legal Assistant will maintain calendars for corporate compliance filings, litigation deadlines, Company project deadlines, etc. This person should possess great customer service skills, as well as the ability to prioritize work and be a team player.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General corporate housekeeping
- Work with in-house and outside counsel on general litigation matters, pre-litigation disputes and related matters
- Report docket updates, track litigation and Company project deadlines, and maintain Legal calendar
- Produce reports on litigation and pre-litigation matters
- Support attorneys with management of discovery, including managing document collection
- Prepare and submit filings with State and Federal Court
- Prepare legal documents under the supervision of an attorney, and/or business communications as needed
- Receive service of process or correspondence and coordinates assignment to other members of the legal team or other departments to ensure all documents are routed to the appropriate stakeholders;
- Manage the reception area by greeting visitors, verifying identification, and direct guests to the appropriate person or office
- Schedule appointments, manage calendars, and maintain office supplies
- Perform clerical tasks as needed, e.g., make copies, mailing, create folder labels, prepare packages, write generic cover memos, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Certifications:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalency
Experience:
- 2-3 years of Legal Assistant Experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must have a valid Driver's License/Insurance and the ability to drive a personal vehicle
- Must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment, wearing multiple hats, flexible attitude and quick to react
- General understanding of the litigation process
- Bilingual is a plus; however, it is not required
- Excellent writing, research and analytical skills
- Must be able to communicate at a professional level with all levels of the Company
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
- Excels under pressure in demanding, fast-paced environment
