POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel, the Associate General Counsel will provide a broad range of legal analysis, services, support, and counsel, primarily in the areas of contracting, corporate governance, privacy, marketing, and intellectual property matters. They will supervise the Transactional and Compliance teams to ensure overall legal department goals are achieved.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel on a broad range of general legal topics including regulatory, marketing, consumer protection, privacy law topics, and other related legal matters 
  • Advise Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel on potential business impacts from deals and/or regulations 
  • Provide review of escalated consumer complaints and guidance towards resolutions 
  • Prepare and review business deals of all types, including, but not limited to, corporate documents, real property transfer documents, loan documents, lease agreements, employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, and sales contracts 
  • Working closely with other employees in the Legal department to ensure consistency in approach across areas of the overall business and providing support for areas outside of the Legal Department as needed 
  • Manage the staff and workflow within the Legal department as requested by the Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel 
  • Partner with outside counsel when necessary to ensure cross jurisdictional compliance 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
 
Education & Certifications:
 
  • Must have a J.D. License from ABA accredited law school; Member in good standing of Arizona State Bar. 
 
Experience:
 
  • Ten plus (10+) years of high level broad legal experience. 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with colleagues at various levels and functions within the Company 
  • Ability to manage a substantial workload independently and effectively in cooperation with and support of other attorneys on a variety of time-sensitive legal matters 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities 
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail 
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities 
  • Must work well under pressure 
 
Special Skills & Training:
  • Familiarity with legal research tools and databases 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, MS Outlook, Excel, and related software programs 
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to influence
