The Manager, Prepress – Graphics Packaging (Image Assembly Manager) oversees the activities of the graphics associates to ensure customer satisfaction and company profitability while maintaining departmental quality standards. He/she manages policies and procedures; reviews workflow, equipment, and staffing needs to ensure deadlines and cost requirements are met. The Image Assembly Manager works in conjunction with the Graphic Reproduction Excellence Manager on structural and strategic decisions as well as setting process standards within the department. The Image Assembly Manager communicates with all team members the status of jobs in process and milestones achieved in meeting goals and objectives. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the primary work within the graphics area including: pre-flight and production art; ensuring production is flowing and all work centers are staged to plan.
  • Expertise with graphics and color management software solutions including but not limited to Esko, Kodak and Alwan, Measure Color, graphic project management software. Experience with Globetek ERP is preferred as well.
  • Responsible for the delivery of quality production ready artwork, proofs, and digital files to meet strict internal and external timelines and scheduling requirements.
  • Develops art standards by studying the departmental workflow for effectiveness to ensure that all processes and procedures are documented and followed.
  • Initiates collaboration with employees and management to maximize efficiencies by identifying and removing bottlenecks within or between departments.
  • Ensures adherence to all quality control processes and procedures and actively supports the company's internal audit program.
  • Responsible for proper staffing, training, and coaching of departmental employees. Recommends personnel actions such as hiring and promotions.
  • Provides employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Recommends and implements measures to motivate employees and to improve workflow methods, performance, quality, or efficiency.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all departmental software, equipment, and work techniques.
  • Makes recommendations for departmental upgrades by keeping current with industry and technology advancements.

Secondary Functions:

  • Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies initiative, follow through, good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings, possessing strong communication skills, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Individual must be able to handle administrative activities, maintain records, reports, or files. This includes the preparation and maintenance of employee records and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • A two or four year college degree in a graphics related field; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, methods and practices.
  • Excellent two-way communication skills (including both oral and written)
  • Critical-thinking skills including the ability to drive to root cause when problem-solving and apply sustainable solutions
  • High energy level and ability to marshal resources to accomplish projects and change initiatives
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to build effective working relationships at all organizational levels
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment and support of multiple clients.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion and integrity.
