We are currently looking for Seamer Operators.  The seamer operator is responsible for setting up and operating a seaming machine equipped with adhesive flow meter (chemical and pneumatic) that takes a roll of shrink material and forms a tube by applying the adhesive on one end of the material. Candidates must read job orders to determine type of material and adhesive to be used, must be able to read a ruler and understand printing terminology such as grain direction, color and defects.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to operate a seaming machine.
  • Must read job orders to determine type of material and adhesive to use.
  • Must be able to read a ruler and understand printing terms such as grain direction, colors and defects
  • Must be able to use tools and change parts for each type of job set up.
  • Must have some prior knowledge of technical equipment.
  • Performs scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Operates a pallet jack.
  • Complies with established facility safety policies and procedures and other regulations (IE: BRC, GMPs, HACCP) as applicable including work instructions.
  • Interacts and behaves professionally. Treats all associates respectfully and professionally while maintaining company code of ethics.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily housekeeping efforts which may include painting and cleaning of facility (interior and exterior).
  • Candidates must be available to work all shifts.

Education and/or Experience:                                                

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at 2 years of machine operator experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:              

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to communicate with other associates, customers and vendors.

Mathematical Skills:                                                   

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:                                        

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to understand and complete detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:                                            

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic knowledge of computers and business operating systems.
