The Role: 

FloSports’ SVP of Engineering will
work directly with cross-functional stakeholders from executives to product management and design to translate our company vision into a clear, convincing technical strategy. This role will lead architecture decisions and oversee all development across the entire suite of FloSports products and applications (web, native mobile and connected devices).  The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking, results-oriented business leader with proven success scaling technology while maintaining high standards for performance, efficiency, and technical excellence. The success of this role will be measured on the development and execution of a product and engineering strategy that will multiply traffic and engagement across all platforms, improve the fan experience for our sports, and ultimately drive active subscriber growth. Our SVP of Engineering will report into our COO and will be based in our Austin, Texas office. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all engineering operations to ensure alignment with desired outputs,  financial budgets, technical feasibility and deadlines
  • Lead all aspects of the company’s architecture strategy, maintaining constant communication and partnership with product and all engineering teams 
  • Build, lead, manage, sustain and scale a highly skilled and motivated engineering team; optimize performance, innovation, career development and employee retention.
  • Develop and/or improve tools, systems, processes and procedures to measure and increase engineering efficiency and effectiveness as measured by defined KPIs
  • Oversee compliance processes and procedures to ensure that solutions are developed in a secure manner, and have appropriate functionality to protect sensitive data 
  • Collaborate with other members of the executive management team to align departmental strategy, priorities or direction with the overall goals of the organization
  • Contribute to the evaluation and decisions of tools and technologies that aim to  optimize our product functionality and overall scalability
  • Develop technical standards, systems and best practices for the entire software development lifecycle from planning to deployment to maintenance
  • Conduct periodic competitive audits
  • Nurture an inclusive environment by seeking feedback and suggestions from across the organization 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience as a hands-on engineer working with modern tech stacks in an innovative environment
  • 10+ years of managing technology teams and growing leaders in a remote first environment
  • Previous experience building SaaS platforms, Streaming VOD and Live, Mobile and web apps and Big Data Pipeline using modern Cloud-Native technologies
  • Experience managing a multi-layer, distributed engineering team in a rapidly growing company of 100M+ in revenue
  • Experience owning budget and vendor management, working with a substantial budget (10M+)
  • Experience working in a rapidly growing direct to consumer business with a product suite that has been used by millions of global users 
  • Able to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives and opportunities
  • Proven experience leading teams and organizations through aggressive goals with the ability to hit those goals
  • Proven ability to utilize qualitative and quantitative data to develop actionable insights
  • Possess senior-level communication skills including synthesizing insights, calibrating to the correct audience, leading a room and steering a difficult conversation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, who can successfully articulate high-level strategy, as well as tactical details
