Quality Control / Material Handler - Stone Plant
Description
Required immediately, our Local Saskatoon Branch is seeking a Full Time Quality Control / Material Handler for our Stone Plant.
Position Summary:
Quality Control / Material Handlers in our Stone Division are responsible for a variety of tasks related to hard surface manufacturing, including shipping, receiving, loading, transporting, inspecting and packaging stone tops and slabs. The position requires the safe and efficient use of mechanical lifts and forklifts, often moving materials through a busy yard and shop environment. Maintaining safe working areas and an organized yard is a critical requirement in this role.

- Strong written and oral communication
- Basic computer skills with capability of learning new software
- Understanding of warehouse processes
- Forklift operators certificate and/or able to obtain one
- Reliable, positive attitude - able to work in a team setting
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe work area, clean and clear of debris and clutter. Following all safe work practices for material handling and the respective equipment required.
- Loads and unloads trucks by forklift with finished goods and raw materials, using a variety of lifting implements
- Transports material (slabs, rems and stone tops) to and from the shop, inventory locations and trucks
- Maintains shipping & receiving area and inventory in an orderly fashion, clean and clear of debris and hazards
- Inspects and maintains forklifts and material handling equipment in safe and good working condition, including daily pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance items
- Utilizes slab inventory softwares, photographing, colour-matching and recording inventory information and transactions
- Monitors and dumps waste and sludge bins, and other housekeeping activities as required
- Utilizes computer systems to update order status, locate job information and mark progress
- Measures and inspects finished stone tops and stone slabs according to templated and material specifications
- Reads and interprets technical drawings for quality and templated specifications
- Loads/Unloads parts from work areas or equipment onto carts or storage/shipping frames as required
- Must be able to follow safety rules and work safely around equipment, cranes and forklifts
- Supports other work areas as required and assigned by Supervisor
- Attends and participates in team huddles and training activities
- Other duties as assigned
