Required immediately, our LOCAL SASKATOON BRANCH is seeking a Full-Time Quality Control Lead to join the team!
Position Summary:
The Quality Control Lead is accountable for all aspects of quality in fabricated jobs at the stone plant. This includes reviewing technical drawings and specifications to perform quality inspections, ensuring all tops meet quality requirements. Under the guidance of the Plant Manager, this role will support training and feedback to shop staff regarding quality expectations. This role is also involved with the final coordination and expedition of orders through the system and process.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years production and quality control experience, preferably in stone manufacturing
- Strong computer skills, ability to learn new software
- Effective and proactive communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, organize and problem solve.
- Very high attention to detail
- Ability to maintain calm, approachable demeanour to collaborate with others effectively
- Capable of operating specialized equipment with training
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and perform accurate measurements in metric and imperial (tape measure and calipers)
- Physically fit, able to lift heavy objects
- Regular lifting, bending and twisting
- Primarily production environment, some office work
- Some exposure to noise, dust and water spray
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all plant Quality Control (QC) activities, including ensuring all jobs meet specifications and are labelled and organized effectively all through the process
- Actively performs quality checks in fabrication process, including final sign-off prior to shipping
- Collaborate with Plant Manager and teams to improve the quality and reliability of the process
- Reports on quality issues in manufacturing software accurately, supporting expedited reworks through plant
- Investigate root cause of quality issues, reacting quickly to train and prevent further issues
- Maintains a strong knowledge of all materials and fabrication processes
- Supporting Plant Manager to develop and monitor strong QC practices in all steps of the plants process
- Oversee sensitive orders through the process to ensure successful fabrication
- Reviews Key Metrics for plant QC performance, communicating performance to all teams
- Leads by example and acts as an advocate for safe work practices and the importance of PPE
- Supports the coordination and expedition of orders through the fabrication process
- Supports the shop fabrication team with various processes/equipment as assigned by supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
