Fixins is a brand new, full-service soul food restaurant located in the heart of the Oak Park neighborhood in Sacramento CA at the 40 Acres Cultural Complex.  Fixins serves traditional soul food with a modern twist. We pride ourselves on providing impeccable service to our customers in a hip, high-energy environment.  Fixins is a large, fast-paced restaurant with a maximum capacity of 240 guests. There is a main dining room, bar area, outdoor patio and private party room that appeal to a broad base of customers.  We are currently hiring experienced, energetic professionals for every position.

Bartender Job Description
Reports to: FOH Manager

Primary Responsibilities

  • Live by Fixins’ vision and mission in every interaction, every shift.
  • Arrive at work on time, in proper uniform, and with any other required supplies.
  • Provide every Guest with impeccable service to ensure we exceed their expectations and provide them with their first, next, and last great experience at Fixins.
  • Guide Guests through their customized dining experience following Fixins’ Service philosophy and using Fixins’ “Steps of Service”.
  • Utilize genuine salesmanship techniques during Guest interactions.
  • Possess an extensive knowledge of all food and beverage selections, including a deep understanding of the appropriate questions to ask when a Guest orders a particular food or beverage item.
  • Place accurate orders using POS and pivot points.
  • Deliver food and beverages to Guests and pre-bus using silent service.
  • Manage the bar during each shift as though it were your own business.
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar top, storage areas, and service bar station.
  • Provide relentless service to all Guests.
  • Complete assigned opening, ongoing, and closing sidework.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and secure environment at all times.
  • Adhere to responsible beverage service requirements.
  • Notify a Manager of all late orders and Guest complaints.
  • Properly fill “Rush” tickets to resolve problems quickly.
  • Complete accurate Bartender Checkout Reports.
  • Adhere to cash handling policies.
  • Remain calm at all times.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist Bussers by carrying bus tubs to the dishroom.
  • Assist Servers by running drinks to their tables if you are working the Service bar.
  • Help the Host by encouraging Guests to come sit in the bar.
  • Assist other Bartenders by stocking glassware, ice, garnishes, etc.
  • Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by a  Manager.


  • Must possess a CA food handler card
  • Ideally 3-5 years of bartending experience
  • Clear knowledge of bartender basics (mixes, recipes, brands, etc)
  • Well versed in safe alcohol service techniques
  • High school diploma, college degree preferred but not required
  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to Guests and other Team Members.

Physical Requirements

  • Transporting and carrying objects (such as bus tubs, trays, trash cans, and food plates) up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wipe down table tops, booth seats, and table legs and to pick up any debris
  • off the floor in all areas of the restaurant.
  • Must be able to exert a well-paced mobility for periods up to 8 hours in length.
