Senior Employment Paralegal Position

FirstCash, Inc. is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail oriented Senior Employment Paralegal to provide legal and administrative support to our Legal Team. The Senior Employment Paralegal will report to and work under the guidance of the Associate General Counsel of Employment and Contracts Law and will work closely with our Human Resources team to assist with a wide variety of legal matters related to employee relations. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and excellent communication and time management skills. The ideal candidate will also be self-motivated, proactive, and committed to assisting the Legal Team in meeting all of the Company’s employment law and compliance needs.
 
Location: FirstCash, Inc. 1600 W 7th St, Fort Worth TX, 76102. 100% onsite, Monday through Friday.

Main Responsibilities of this Position:
 
  • Must be able to assist with a broad spectrum of employment law matters including, but not limited to recruitment and hiring; compensation and benefits; employee relations; wage and hour matters; performance management; leaves of absence and accommodation; ADA matters; workplace safety; discrimination and harassment; government audits; compliance; internal investigations; and discipline and termination of employment. 
  • Must be able to assist in drafting, reviewing, finalizing, and maintaining template documents and policies for employment matters that arise (e.g., employment policies and procedures, investigation procedures, employee handbooks) 
  • Must be able to efficiently and effectively conduct legal and factual research on matters related to employment law. 
  • Must be able to manage demand letters and administrative agency complaints, including collecting information; conducting witness interviews, investigating, researching, and drafting written responses. 
  • Will assist the Associate General Counsel in managing the contracts workflow process and our contract lifecycle management system, as needed
  • Will assist in monitoring federal, state, and local employment law developments and trends that may impact company policy  
  • Will maintain an on-line library of pre-approved form templates and historical documents. 
  • Will collect personnel, pay, policy, timekeeping, training, performance, leave of absence, and other employment-related Company records for discovery responses. 
  • Will prepare and maintain tracking/log reports related to specific labor and employment matters.  
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. 
  • Must be flexible and willing to help other members of the Legal Team as needed
 
Job Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies and/or equivalent work experience of at least five (5) years, specifically in labor and employment law
  • Must have experience working in an in-house legal department or large law firm
  • Must have familiarity with Title VII; the Americans with Disabilities Act; the Age Discrimination and Employment Act; the Fair Labor Standards Act; the Family and Medical Leave Act, the National Labor Relations Act; and other employment laws including state and local laws
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, Adobe, and Excel 
  • Knowledge of e-mail file management/storage and other types of electronically stored information 
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment on a wide variety of work matters and projects, multi-task, and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines and changes in priorities. 
Preferred Experience:
  • Westlaw
  • Docusign
  • Prior experience supporting/or managing an immigration portfolio is a plus.
