Data Governance Analyst

This position is not remote eligible and is in the office 5 days a week.
Summary:
The FirstBank Data Governance Analyst serves as the primary data liaison between technical, business and data management. The role is a hybrid of business, risk management governance and technical skills with a primary focus on data knowledge, quality, and proper utilization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Measures and monitors data quality, designs, and executes remediation plans, maintains, and supports applicable data management standards
- Implements and supports data quality requirements
- Performs user acceptance testing (with applicable consumers) and reviews results with Data Owner for approval
- Reviews data quality issues, perform analysis, recommend fixes, and/or report timely any breaches of thresholds to Data Owners, Data Consumers, and escalate as needed to Enterprise Data Management (EDM)
- Manages and resolves or remediates data issues identified by Data Owners and Data Consumers
- Manages, executes, and tracks data quality remediation plans in coordination with all stakeholders
- Tracks and reports data quality statistics for data quality
- Collects and updates business metadata and reference data
- Translates business rules into data quality rules and produces data controls
- Supports applications and platforms to enable effective sharing of data
- Provides training and data assistance as needed

Education and/or Experience
- College degree in computer science, business administration, finance, or relevant technical, data governance or regulatory compliance experience
- 5+ years of experience in either data governance, risk management, audit, regulatory compliance, or equivalent relevant work experience within a regulated financial services company
- Experience with data governance and data management and working familiarity of DCAM or similar industry best practice standards
Skills and Abilities
- Self-directed and self-driven with the ability to work at both a strategic and tactical level
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving capabilities
- Data Analysis capabilities to include Data Profiling, Data Quality and Frequency Distribution
- Working technical expertise with SQL/SAS/Python
- Prior Jack Henry system experience a plus
- Ability to learn additional systems as needed
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of data management tools and practices
- Familiarity with data quality issues and Exact, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
- Ability to present technical information to business partners
- Solid written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical, and application development skills
- Strong ability to review and analyze data, and identify and resolve problems
- Strong Banking Data Domain expertise including hands on experience and analysis of lending, deposit, and investment data.
- Strong research and problem determination and solution skills
- Strong skills in data analysis - developing macros, scripts, queries to calculate data quality
- Typically work across many data assets and is an operations or technology person who is responsible for a data asset as it flows through systems
- Understanding of data architecture practices
