SBA Analyst

Summary:
FirstBank is establishing a Government-Guaranteed Lending platform focused on SBA and USDA programs. The SBA Analyst will play a critical role in building and scaling this new business line. This position requires strong analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, and the ability to develop innovative processes leveraging technology. The role offers significant exposure to deal execution, strategic planning, and leadership interaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Analytics & Financial Modeling
- Analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, and cash-flow projections.
- Support underwriting for SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs.
- Develop and refine financial models, sensitivity analyses, and performance metrics.
Technology & Process Innovation
- Utilize AI and automation tools to streamline underwriting and document review.
- Assist in designing scalable, tech-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
Strategic Initiatives & Special Projects
- Support the launch of new systems, vendor relationships, and loan platforms.
- Contribute to marketing and outreach strategies for SBA lending.
- Participate in strategic planning for growth, vertical expansion, and partnerships.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Head of Government-Guaranteed Lending.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, CPAs, attorneys, and investors.
- Represent the department at conferences and industry events as needed.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Analytics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Strong proficiency in financial analysis and Excel-based modeling.
- Familiarity with AI tools and automation platforms for data analysis and workflow optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 2–4 years of experience in finance, consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or related field.
- Exposure to credit analysis, underwriting, or lending processes preferred.
- Experience with SBA or government-guaranteed lending is a plus but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to building new processes or business lines.
