Deputy Director of Data Management
Description
This position is in the office 5 days a week and can sit in either our Nashville, TN or our Birmingham, AL office.
Summary:
The position will take ownership of developing and maintaining the company’s Data Governance and Data Management program throughout the organization. In addition, the role will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for all organization-wide data governance activities with a focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes a clear data governance framework, data governance oversight function, operating model, defines data management roles along with accountability and ownership
- Manage, maintain, and monitor the data governance framework and coordinate the data governance committee and working groups
- Drives data governance initiatives across multiple teams to successfully build, enhance, transform and leverage data for strategic benefit.
- Engages in strategic planning with business, compliance, risk and IT stakeholders to provide direction or recommendations on company-wide data governance program and data management best practices
- Collaborates with leadership across various disciplines, provides guidance, direction, or recommendations to address a wide range of business needs with an emphasis on optimized, timely and successful delivery of data and data solutions.
- Implements best practices for management, capture and measurement of data quality
- Helps drive compliance of the company’s architectural data assets and policies; ensures data management practices comply with all regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable standards and regulations
- Maintain and communicate data management policy, charter, practices, procedures and data standards

Education and/or Experience
- College degree in computer science, mathematics, business administration, finance or relevant technical and data management, governance or compliance experience
- 8+ years of experience in data governance leadership or equivalent relevant work experience, banking industry experience required
- Experience with data governance/management/standardization tools
