Banking Controls Analyst
Description
The FirstBank Banking Controls Analyst will support the Director of Banking Controls
and Governance and partner with business process owners within the traditional banking segment on
various controls and risk initiatives as well as business process transformation projects. Traditional
banking business units include, but are not limited to Credit, Branches and Markets, and Operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation to business process owners on risk assessment, internal control design and implementation, SOX, internal audit, and other business process projects.
- Assist in the review of business processes and identify and develop processes and procedures that comply with internal audit, SOX, and Risk standards.
- Assist with the performance of risk assessments of traditional banking processes.
- Review business processes, controls, data, and reports with respective owners and identify gaps/opportunities for improvement.
- Review remediation plans and perform follow-up activities on remediation of identified issues.
- Provide feedback and communicate effectively with team members and the Director of Banking Controls and Governance regarding their work products.
- Perform quality control reviews to ensure compliance with evaluation standards and that adequate evidence exists to support the recommendations.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information as required by law and by Bank policy.
- Maintain professional certification(s) and continue to develop and expand knowledge of the audit profession, bank regulatory issuances, our industry, and Company products and information through self-study, research, and continuing education efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Less than 25% travel required.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience - Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and other software as needed
Education and/or Experience - Preferred:
- Internship or work experience with financial institutions, internal auditing, or public accounting firms considered a plus
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities and the ability to identify solutions and recommendations that effectively address business and control needs
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and control procedures
- Knowledge of COSO framework and ability to apply concepts
- Ability to multi-task effectively, responding to changing business priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate across the traditional banking segment, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit.
- Demonstrated record of meeting commitments and achieving goals.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment

- Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and evaluate documents such as policies, procedures, standards, financial information, and laws/regulations

- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of inputs furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
