Objectives of this role:  

The Senior Medical Editor supports editorial with high-quality review of communication materials regarding content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, style, consistency, and FDA compliance. The Senior Medical Editor supports creative with literature searches, referencing and annotating materials, and occasionally updating copy manuscripts.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as training supervisor and model brand-editing responsibilities for associate medical editors
  • Under guidance of associate editorial director/editorial director/VP editorial
  • Assigned as editor to 1 to 2 “heavy” brands and 1 to 2 “light” brands (more if capable)
  • Assigned as backup editor to 1 to 2 brands
  • Responsible for style sheet creation and maintenance on assigned brands
  • Attend KOs, IRs, and other meetings pertinent to assigned brand; attend status meetings; attend resourcing meetings
  • If supervising associate medical editor, attend their brand meetings as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to upload, link and train others in Veeva process
  • Demonstrated mastery of annotating and fact-checking skills as well as ability to train others in same

 Job Requirements:  

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum), preferably in English, communications, journalism, or health sciences field
  • 5-7 years of medical editing experience, including editing and fact-checking promotional healthcare materials, referencing and annotating promotional materials, Veeva uploading and linking, and thorough knowledge of AMA style
  • Promotional healthcare communications agency experience is preferred
