Role Summary/Purpose

The Executive GM, Global Sourcing role will lead our global sourcing organization to drive competitive advantage in field services fulfillment operations, including supplier quality & delivery, compliance, cost savings & efficiency, and continuous improvement.  Reporting into our COO and part of the executive leadership team, this global leadership role is responsible for a global strategy to ensure safety, quality, delivery and cost productivity across global sourcing operations, in support of a $1.7B services enterprise. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop the overall sourcing vision and strategy for the company, including execution of short-term goals and long-term direction, for a global sourcing organization with 80+ employees worldwide, and total annual spend of ~500M.
  • Foster relationships with Region General Managers and their teams, and drives overall direction of global sourcing management
  • Drive a positive organization culture, with strong front-line leadership, empowerment, and connectivity across regions
  • Develop and maintain on-going relationships with key suppliers, and establish effective programs to ensure “best in class” supplier performance
  • Communicate and drive metrics with regions and senior management, including insightful analytics to support improved year over year sourcing fulfillment
  • Manage standards globally for inflation control and cost reduction
  • Lead the identification, selection and negotiations with new and current suppliers, in order to get the best conditions and find new alternatives of purchase
  • Drive global compliance to standards, agreements, and policies for global sourcing organization
  • Formulate and deploy procedures governing all aspects of materials procurement, and supplier development, in support of global operational excellence
  • Lead organization transformation activities involving integration of teams, processes, systems and suppliers
  • Partner closely with GE Power to leverage contracts, terms, agreements, & scale for global buy
  • Provide guidance to tactical procurement teams; ensure process integrity through compliance with internal policies and controls.
  • Prioritize and execute an evolving portfolio of strategic sourcing initiatives, to drive cost reduction and ensure capacity and supply continuity
  • Work with business leaders to develop a comprehensive approach to sourcing budget and spend management
  • Provide in-depth analysis and planning to implement continuous improvement within sourcing across the enterprise
  • Develop and implement strategies covering commodities, services and supplier processes throughout a global enterprise to deliver maximum cost savings, leverage, and standardization
  • Build & empower great leaders to drive teamwork, collaboration, and partnership across the enterprise as a competitive, global procurement function
  • Develop and maintain a savings reporting mechanism with Finance, understood and accepted by the user departments
  • Develop an actionable performance measurement system for Safety, Quality, Deliver and Cost / Cash in supplier selection & ongoing relationship management.
  • Drive a culture of lean across the global sourcing organization; create standard work along with daily management where appropriate to focus on SQDC
  • Produce regular reports on performance and provide comprehensive management information and in-depth analysis when requested including spend analysis, savings secured and potential savings for forecasts and budgets
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or similar related area
  • 15 or more years professional experience in sourcing, services, quality, supply chain management, engineering, operations management, lean, or similar field
  • 10 or more years of global or regional senior leadership experience, leading matrixed and direct teams of employees
  • English proficiency required
Desired Characteristics
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or similar related area
  • Services experience in the power, energy, industrial, construction sector preferred
  • Knowledge of power generation field operations and services, and awareness of current portfolio of GE power equipment (gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, controls, aero turbines, wind turbines)
  • Membership in ISM (NAPM), with professional certification as a CPM preferred
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, listening, & people skills.

  • Lean practitioner & mindset. Ability to drive a culture of lean in operations, including standard work, daily management, continuous improvement, etc.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ERP skills including familiarity with SAP
  • Some travel required
