Job Summary:

The Tax Controller I is responsible for directing and managing the organization's global tax life cycle functions. These functions include tax business advisory, tax accounting, tax compliance, and tax audits support through establishing and maintaining the organization's tax principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Prepares and reviews tax financial reporting impacts to the organization and presents findings and recommendations to top management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform domestic and international tax research to support the regions and the operations group in creating the appropriate business model for compliant operations. This is done across various sectors of the business and includes both domestic and international resources that are cross-functional within the organization.
  • Provide the essential knowledge of domestic and international taxation. This includes, but is not limited to, taxation of US outbound transactions, along with transactions between foreign countries
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and yearly analysis for FAS 109/ASC 740, Fin 48 and FAS 5 calculations for each legal entity globally
  • Coordinate and review the filing of all reporting obligations for the US Consolidated Return, State & local tax returns, Property tax returns, and Foreign Corporate Income tax returns
  • Assist in setting up and closing branches and legal entities as needed. This includes coordination with external consultants and internal resources from preparing a project plan to execute on the individual steps within the plan
  • Interact with various internal departments communicating the company’s tax strategy and ensure compliance with the same
  • Coordinate with the External Accounting Firms, Lawyers and Consultants on a worldwide basis in the completion of the company’s reporting obligations for both direct and indirect taxes globally.
  • Provide support to the regions in the filing of monthly VAT returns and ensure compliance of the same
  • Review and coordinate the filing of Transfer Pricing reports and transfer pricing computations with internal and external providers. This includes providing statutory filing projections and understanding the differences between local GAAP of a country and US GAAP.
  • Manage and develop employees
  • Travel may be required

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years progressive experience and demonstrated success/knowledge
  • 6+ years managing and developing multi-discipline teams, preferably with international reach across multiple service types
  • 5+ years of specialized/industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • CPA required
  • English proficiency required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of US Tax Law, Internal Revenue Code, Legislation, interpretations of the same, International Tax Regulations and US GAAP/Local GAAP in various countries
  • Ability to research complex projects, provide clear written/verbal communication to various levels of management, interact and adapt quickly in a variety of international environments/settings
