Job Summary:

The Welder IV is responsible for cutting, shaping and putting together a variety of different things related to metalwork and piping and will operate appropriate equipment to put together mechanical structures or parts with a great deal of precision. Also carries various welding tasks including fabrication, preparation, and execution of welding joint as per welding procedure/system within safety and quality requirements. Will review and evaluate work performed by Welder I, II, or III.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate work performed by Welder I, II, or III.
  • Operate and have knowledge of heating torches such as oxy-acetylene and gas torches
  • Operate jacking fixtures/porta power, forklifts oxygen and acetylene torches/propane
  • Use correct tools for proper execution of the work.
  • Lead inexperienced personnel and read and interpret drawing
  • Ensure conceptual design projects are completed, such as specifying electrical devices, conduit, cable, pipe, and necessary hardware to complete the project
  • Responsible for both quality, and safety.
  • Capable of using hand grinders to grind weld back to original shape and contour.
  • Review quality documents as required.
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
  • Travel may be required

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years applicable experience and demonstrated success/knowledge
  • Comply with ISO certification requirements.
  • Experience of power generation (gas/steam turbines) and associated auxiliary equipment is preferable.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Expert level. Able to demonstrate Team Leader Skills
  • Expert level experience in welding and grinding of Turbine and Boiler components.
  • Expert experience in common welding processes (SMAW, MIG, FCAW, GTAW)
  • Flexible and self-reliant attitude
  • Functional expertise with all required equipment and tools.
  • Excellent customer, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to complete multiple projects within time constraints
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to travel to various job locations
  • Ability to work different shifts in a variety of temperatures and environments
