Location: Position available remote, throughout East Europe. 

***Knowledge of payroll in at least two countries is required***


The Payroll Manager, East Europe manages region payroll activities for East Europe involving the following: develop and implement methods and procedures to ensure accuracy of payroll and integrity of payroll systems; ensure payroll transmittals are processed accurately and on time; interpret company policies and government regulations in connection with payroll procedures and proactively flag changing demands and design solutions to retain compliance. Lead special projects impacting the entire global payroll operation.

Essential Function

  • Manage global payroll staff to perform day-to-day execution activities
  • Provide leadership and direction to the payroll staff including training, recruiting, hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions and succession planning
  • Ensure accurate and timely region payroll processing in accordance with local statutory and business requirements
  • Ensure the stability and quality of the payroll process, coordinating corrections and designing process improvements when required
  • Stay current with pay regulations, practices, and compliance requirements and build internal knowledge base for payrolls
  • Ensure understanding of the complex payroll environment based on local statutory rules, works council/union requirements and local internal policies
  • Proactively conduct horizon scanning in relation to legislative changes and suggest simplified payroll structures that could flow therefrom
  • Work with Business Support team to publish monthly metrics on payroll performance
  • Create and manage efficient processes and troubleshoot data issues
  • Collaborate with local HR and Operational partners to simplify and standardize existing payroll process to reduce opportunities for defects
  • Solidify roles and responsibilities with business partners regarding required activities to onboard employee for time entry and payroll purposes
  • Manage payroll delivery in line with HQ and local leadership requirements
  • Lead quality review process (root cause analysis; corrective action, etc.) solutions
  • Collaborate with Business Support team to develop and update current processes and procedures, as required
  • Support periodic labor and payroll audits (internal and external) by providing pertinent data in a timely manner as well as ensuring all payroll data is filed and maintained accurately
  • Benchmark current practices against industry best practices to identify opportunities for improvement to enhance internal operations
  • Create working environment for team to deliver world class customer service to employee population
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8+ of prior management experience in payroll processing with time and expense reports experience required
  • 3+ years managing and developing employees
  • 3+ years of specialized/industry experience
  • Knowledge of payroll in at least two countries is required

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of local wage and work time regulations in region, including pensions, taxation, etc.

  • Must possess excellent time and people management skills in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to build internal relationships and partner with different departments to achieve successful payroll
  • Ability to work across various areas of the business, including effective communication with people of different backgrounds and levels
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Extensive working knowledge of accounting and payroll software applications (preferably in SAP)
  • Experience with region legislation impacting payroll concepts
  • English proficiency required
  • Some travel required
