Field Service Technician - Wind Remote, Spain


Job Summary:

The Mechanical Assistant I is responsible for assistance in performing all preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on mechanical power plant equipment in safe and efficient manner for the Wind segments. The responsibility is to also provide assistance in installing and repairing heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications, Turbines, and Generators as directed. Wind Mechanical Assistant I will not be certified to perform work inside any Cabinet/Controller without direct supervision of a certified Electrical Technician. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Possess knowledge about specific activity tools and be able to use them safely.
  • Ability to work unsupervised on any part of an equipment maintenance project.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Ability to align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and lasers, and plumb bobs
  • Experience dismantling machinery or equipment
  • Should have experience with repair and or rebuild of large industrial equipment.
  • Ability to move machinery and equipment
  • Assembly and installation of equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma AND 1 year of “hands-on” experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment
  • Experience in industrial outage maintenance desired operations and upgrade of client turbines according to Company guidelines/procedures
  • English Proficiency Required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Basic level capabilities and responsibilities, with 0 to 1 year of relevant experience
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude and experience utilizing hand held and power tools including and mechanical troubleshooting equipment.
  • Experience in a hands-on mechanical position in an industrial environment highly desired.
  • Must have strong mechanical/technical skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • In-depth safety training a major plus
  • Must have valid Driver’s License

Physical Requirements

  • Candidates must be able to climb a 300 feet wind tower multiple times per day.
  • Candidates must be able to walk across the hub and, in the event of an emergency, repel off.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 300+ feet.
  • Must meet specific weight requirements of tower ladders under OSHA standards of 250 to 300 lbs. max, including personal protective equipment (approx. 30-35lbs).
  • Must be comfortable working in confined space(s).
  • Must be able to see and move throughout site to resolve work problems and facilitate processes; repetitive motion activities may be involved.
  • Frequent climbing, walking, and standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Successful completion of the climb test and tower rescue training.
