Field Service Technician - Wind Remote, Romania


Job Summary:

The Wind Mechanical Technician I will work on a small team to achieve safe and efficient turbine maintenance. Reports directly to the Resource Manager and indirectly to the Site Manager and Lead Technician when on a job. Responsible for performing all preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on mechanical power plant equipment in safe and efficient manner for the Wind segments. Responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy machinery used mainly in power generation applications, turbines, and generators as directed. Is not certified to perform work inside any Cabinet/Controller without direct supervision by a certified Electrical Technician. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow all assigned Environmental, Health and Safety procedures
  • Perform mechanical maintenances, operations and upgrades
  • Verify that the work is completed in compliance with customer’s requirements
  • Perform work based on established work procedures.
  • Document all work performed
  • Report policy or procedure violation
  • Submit progress reports
  • Repair or replace parts
  • Possess knowledge about specific activity tools and be able to use them safely.
  • Work unsupervised on any part of an equipment maintenance project.
  • Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs
  • Dismantle and assemble machinery or equipment
  • Travel up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
  • May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Associate Engineering Degree in a Technical Mechanical or Wind Energy discipline from an accredited college or university ORequivalent experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to become LOTO certified
  • Experience with repair and or rebuild of large industrial equipment.
  • English proficiency Required

Physical Requirements

  • Candidates must be able to climb a 300 feet wind tower multiple times per day.
  • Candidates must be able to walk across the hub and, in the event of an emergency, repel off.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 300+ feet.
  • Must meet specific weight requirements of tower ladders under OSHA standards of 250 to 300 lbs. max, including personal protective equipment (approx. 30-35lbs).
  • Must be comfortable working in confined space(s).
  • Must be able to see and move throughout site to resolve work problems and facilitate processes; repetitive motion activities may be involved.
  • Frequent climbing, walking, and standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Successful completion of the climb test and tower rescue training.
