As part of the Gas Power One Field Services team, FieldCore installs, maintains and upgrades power generation equipment, enabling operators of the world’s energy infrastructure to provide more reliable and affordable energy.
Job Summary
The Buyer II is responsible for sourcing goods and services that meet corporate as well as specific business unit needs and objectives, which allow the company to perform tasks more efficiently and provide greater return on investment on goods purchased. Will lead the vendor selection process, negotiating pricing structures, terms and conditions for moderate to complex purchase orders/contracts, monitoring contract performance, participating in ongoing vendor management, and providing direct responsibility for regional Buyers.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Convert business function requisitions and statements of work to purchase orders, selecting suppliers per policy and procedure, and prices per contract or negotiation, and place with suppliers
- Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, obtain bids, and plan programs to meet business needs
- Provide coordination and leadership in procurement activities for assigned commodities
- Initiate bid/quote process for internal customers, supplies and equipment; consult with users and outside consultants to develop specifications; perform bid analysis and make recommendations regarding purchases; prepare and facilitate contracts
- Use information from interviews, site visits, seminars, trade shows, internet, commercial and technical publications, and other contacts to develop and maintain an effective vendor base to procure various services, equipment, materials, and supplies
- Participate in or lead Sourcing team in strategy development, cost savings efforts, and associated reporting
- Review, evaluate, and monitor purchase requisitions for proper authorization, specifications, and compliance
- Establish and maintain supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance
- Research and resolve receiving and accounts payable issues
- Monitor work flow in the department in the absence of the Sourcing Manager
- Provide direct leadership/responsibility for the local Buyers to include G&O development in addition to coordinating work efforts to ensure integration and completion of work against expectations
- Maintain related metrics to include root cause corrective action

Required Qualifications & Experience:
- High School diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years purchasing experience
- Experience with procurement and purchasing systems is required
- English proficiency required
- Minimal travel required
Desired Characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Subject matter expert for purchasing practices and procedures, including vendor qualification and performance monitoring
- Solid analytical skills and results-oriented aptitude
- Advanced computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and MRP / ERP systems
- Attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Skillful in establishing and maintaining working relationships with departments and suppliers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and with time constraints
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and creative thought processing skills
