Job Summary

This role focuses on keeping plant equipment running smoothly by planning and performing regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs using a computerized system. The position involves fixing mechanical problems, checking equipment for issues, and working with supervisors to address alarms or malfunctions. Key tasks include operating machinery, helping during plant outages, maintaining tools and work areas, and assisting with managing supplies. The role also ensures all work follows safety and quality standards set by GE Vernova.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Utilizes the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to develop and implement predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and schedules, in accordance with OEM technical manual procedures
  • Understands and complies with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies while conducting maintenance
  • Records maintenance actions taken on work order forms
  • Diagnoses mechanical system and equipment problems
  • Conducts routine mechanical system and equipment inspections and tests as required to ensure plant is operating within specified parameters
  • Responds to all mechanical system and equipment alarms and malfunctions as directed. Coordinate with the Shift Supervisor to identify and initiate appropriate corrective actions
  • Analyzes trends and operating parameters on all mechanical systems and equipment to identify potential or impending failures and to ensure plant is running at optimal efficiency.  Coordinates with the Shift Supervisor to identify and initiate appropriate corrective actions
  • Repairs, maintains and installs mechanical systems and equipment and rearrange and modify as directed
  • Performs a variety of maintenance activities, including, but not limited to, machining, welding and pipefitting functions, equipment and test equipment calibration and alignment, inspection, testing, lubrication, etc.
  • Performs adjustments and maintenance corrections on equipment found operating beyond the prescribed setting or an unsafe condition
  • Operates plant equipment (trucks, crane, forklift)
  • Assists the Mech. Engineer during all outage periods
  • Maintains a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of work areas and shop areas
  • Maintain Tools, mechanical equipment and systems and electrical test equipment and shop areas as assigned
  • Supports the Warehouse Assistant and other maintenance personnel as directed by the Maintenance Manager and Mechanical Engineer in the ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, inspecting, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment and parts to support predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical subject or equivalent +3 years of experience at a Construction/installation site, preferably in the power plant or Oil & Gas industry including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines
  • Experience in steam turbines and major maintenance procedures.
  • Have bolting and rigging certifications as desire.
  • Must have Driver’s License
  • Must possess minimum required hand tools
Desired Characteristics: 
  • Experienced level. Has successfully performed all requirements of the job multiple times.
  • Possess strong skills and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
  • Attended in product specific training to take, record and evaluate critical clearances, carry out alignments, change Turbine Buckets, etc. Has basic knowledge of English as per grade A2 of the European CEFR
  • Diverse mechanical and electrical skills (welding, pipe-fitting, electrical construction, analog and digital circuits)
  • Technical knowledge of equipment and tooling, plus an ability to instruct and direct inexperienced personnel. Position also responsible for shipping and receiving
  • Ability to instruct and direct inexperienced personnel and read and interpret drawings.
  • Solid background in turbine-generator equipment, as well as auxiliary sub-systems.
  • Projects are associated with the interfacing of turbine auxiliary equipment sub-systems with turbine-generator control systems.
  • Flexible and self-reliant attitude are necessary since much of the work is done on a self-directed basis, ability to work with minimum supervision is necessary
  • Functional expertise with all the equipment and tools.
  • Ability to turn conceptual designs into completed projects, including doing all necessary work, such as specifying electrical devices, conduit, cable, pipe, and necessary hardware to complete the project.
  • Must work well both independently and in a team environment.
