As part of the Gas Power One Field Services team, FieldCore installs, maintains and upgrades power generation equipment, enabling operators of the world’s energy infrastructure to provide more reliable and affordable energy.
Job Summary
The Foreign Material Exclusion Technician I monitors and maintains all FME implementations to avoid the introduction of foreign material into open systems or components. Maintains and repairs the heavy rotating machinery used mainly in power generation applications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all FieldCore employees and its contractors are trained in FME Critical Process
- Inspect FME kits along with “Tool Keeper” prior to performing on-site duties
- Manage inventory of all FME devices that are going to be used during the maintenance
- Assign number to all FME devices and rags in accordance with inventory system
- Prepare binders, complete with FME plan appendices
- Train employees on FME guidelines and methods
- Set up FME zone(s) on site
- Record and control entrance and exit of all tools, materials, equipment and FME devices to FME zone(s)
- Exhibit safe work practices, including stopping activities immediately after loss of control of FME area
- Report all incidents to the craft supervisor and TFA
- Ensure that Special Tools are be carefully inspected and reviewed for missing or loose elements or any defect that might suggest that a certain piece was detached
- Verify that FME zone(s) are organized and clean before, during, and after every shift
- Identify and record damaged FME devices
- Deliver signs, barriers, FME devices, and other materials to the Tool Keeper to be returned to Tool Center
- Verify the conditions of installed FME devices during shift turnover
- Write the shift turnover report, according to format
- Question and prohibit access to FME zone to any person which is not trained on FME Critical
- Participate in “Toolbox Talks” about improvement, good use of FME devices, and other related subjects
- Travel is required
- Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
- May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- HS Diploma, or equivalent
- 0-2 years of experience performing FME on machinery and industrial service equipment including various pumps, motors, fans, generators, and turbines
- Valid Driver’s License
- English proficiency required
Desired Characteristics:
- Degree/Associate Degree in Technical Field or Gas Turbine Systems
- Proficient in mechanical/technical skills, oral communications skills, and Critical Thinking
- Manage time-sensitive tasks and maintain a schedule within operationally challenging environments
- Must work well both independently and in a team environment
