Description

The Composite Blade Leader manages operational and commercial duties. You should be able to ensure productivity targets are achieved and all Blade repair processes are running smoothly and in good time. You also need to be an expert on the internal and external inspections, defect analysis, and Category 5 repair of fiberglass and composite blades, spinners, and nacelles from all categories. You may be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organize blade repair by following correct procedures
  • Prepare applicable blade repair documentations and reports with details
  • Ensure customer site rules, company regulations, policies and procedures are being always followed within team.
  • Inspect and photograph internal and external blade damage, document findings, and assemble all associated paperwork as required to be posted for further action by Engineering
  • Perform/lead coating and major structural repairs (Category 5) on internal and external blade surfaces, tip repair, leading and trailing edge repair while following guidelines provided by Engineering with locations both up tower and down tower
  • Help in all areas of site preparation (i.e. coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision
  • Document all work performed using computer- based service reporting procedures, open PAC cases and ensure appropriate follow-up measures are taken
  • Communicate/lead site status to engineering, customers, and management
  • Provide maintenance/technical support large component replacement of wind turbine generators
  • Provide wind turbine generator LOTO (Lock Out & Tag Out) support
  • Understand lamination principles and postcuring.
  • Install vortex generators (serrations, panels, vains, and flow anchors)
  • Good leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good report preparation and presentation skills
  • Good stress management and ability to make decisions under pressure,
  • Follow up operation quality costs and efficiency
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license

Reqired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • English fluency is mandatory
  • Ability to manage internal site team and subcontractors related with blade repair issues
  • Ability to work multitasking
  • Problem solver
  • Strong communication skills to manage stakeholder expectations

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to read and understand wiring schematics
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Blade access platforms experience
  • Lightning protection system inspections knowledge
  • Understand technology of wind blade construction and repair
  • Understanding of mix ratios for all blade repair chemicals
  • Understanding of blade assembly terminology
  • Understanding of advanced vacuum bagging principles and infusions
