This position is based out of Feeding America’s Chicago office location in the heart of downtown Chicago. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Interns can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and work from home on other days
The internship program is designed to give you an opportunity to complement your formal education with career-related experience and is open to current undergraduates, individuals starting their graduate degree in the fall and current graduate students. The internship will provide a stimulating and substantive work experience, coupled with an experience to expand your knowledge and understanding of Feeding America.
The Opportunity 
The Equity Department at Feeding America supports the organization’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) work. The intern will support department members in ensuring that the EDI vision and strategy is integrated in culture, systems, tools, policies, structures, and practices of the national office and the network. The intern will be responsible for supporting content development and record keeping in partnership with the Network EDI Advisory Committee, FANO Equity Team and Equity Department. The role involves conducting research, updating network- and FANO-facing content in support to align with the network strategic framework. 
  • Provide technical and presentation assistance to Equity Department members on equity-focused projects.
  • Develop constructive working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, lived experiences, races, sexual orientations, ethnicities, national origins, socioeconomic statuses, ages, genders, religions, and other aspects of human diversity.
  • Attend and participate in committee meetings, workgroups, and special projects promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Design content for various stakeholder audiences.
  • Develop sustainable ideas to integrate equity initiatives within the national organization and member network.

Internship Duration

  • 6/3/25 through 08/22/25 (11 weeks total - 40 hours per week)

Hourly Salary

  • $16 - Undergraduate
  • $17 - Students between Undergrad and Graduate school (starting grad school in fall)
  • $18 - Graduate School

Requirements

  • Current graduate or undergraduate student 
  • Strong commitment to EDI and experience communicating EDI concepts to different audiences 
  • Strong communications skills, including in-person, virtually, and via writing and other platforms 
  • Ability to fulfill duties and responsibilities with a limited amount of direct supervision (after appropriate training) and to complete assigned projects in a timely manner 
  • Ability to perform work in a multi-task environment, prioritizing needs for efficient and effective service
