About the Role
Federal Staffing Resources is seeking experienced Medical Coder III professionals to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Medical Coding Program under the MQS2-NG contract. This role focuses on complex inpatient facility and professional coding across Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) nationwide.
 
This is a 100% remote position supporting a mission-critical federal healthcare program.
 
What You’ll Do
  • Perform inpatient facility and professional coding including:
    • Inpatient stays, surgical procedures, anesthesia, trauma, critical care, rehab, and ancillary services
  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS codes
  • Ensure correct DRG, RVU, and RWP assignment
  • Code encounters in MHS GENESIS®, 3M Encompass 360, and JLV
  • Research and resolve coding edit failures
  • Maintain DHA standards for:
    • ≥97% coding accuracy
    • ≥80% assigned workload completion
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years medical coding or auditing experience in 2+ specialties
    OR
  • 3+ years coding experience within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF)
  • Active professional services coding certification
  • Active facility coding certification
  • Certifications must be in good standing
  • Experience with inpatient coding and DRGs
  • Eligible to pass a DHA background investigation
  • Must reside and work within CONUS
Nice to Have
  • Prior DHA or DoD coding experience
  • Experience with high-volume inpatient workloads

Contingent Upon Contract Award
This position is contingent upon the successful award of a federal government contract. Employment offers, start dates, and onboarding are subject to contract award, funding approval, and government authorization. Candidates may be asked to participate in pre-award screening and qualification activities to support a timely transition upon award.
