About the Role
Federal Staffing Resources is seeking experienced Medical Coder III professionals to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Medical Coding Program under the MQS2-NG contract. This role focuses on complex inpatient facility and professional coding across Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) nationwide.
This is a 100% remote position supporting a mission-critical federal healthcare program.
What You’ll Do
- Perform inpatient facility and professional coding including:
- Inpatient stays, surgical procedures, anesthesia, trauma, critical care, rehab, and ancillary services
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS codes
- Ensure correct DRG, RVU, and RWP assignment
- Code encounters in MHS GENESIS®, 3M Encompass 360, and JLV
- Research and resolve coding edit failures
- Maintain DHA standards for:
- ≥97% coding accuracy
- ≥80% assigned workload completion
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years medical coding or auditing experience in 2+ specialties
OR - 3+ years coding experience within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF)
- Active professional services coding certification
- Active facility coding certification
- Certifications must be in good standing
- Experience with inpatient coding and DRGs
- Eligible to pass a DHA background investigation
- Must reside and work within CONUS
Nice to Have
- Prior DHA or DoD coding experience
- Experience with high-volume inpatient workloads

Contingent Upon Contract Award
This position is contingent upon the successful award of a federal government contract. Employment offers, start dates, and onboarding are subject to contract award, funding approval, and government authorization.
