THE ROLE:   
The Manager, Corporate Income Tax will report to the Director, Corporate & Indirect Tax. The position includes exposure to all activities associated with tax compliance, tax planning and tax provision process for the Company. It also includes ensuring compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure controls for current and deferred tax provision, and that all tax documentation, reports and filings are completed for all legal entities within the corporate group.
   
WHAT YOU WILL DO:   
  • Prepare and review income tax returns for all legal entities;
  • Manage and monitor the Company’s REIT status;
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial tax reporting requirements, including income tax provision, mutual fund trust calculations and disclosure requirements under IFRS;
  • Coordinate information required for budgets and projections in respect of corporate income taxes, including REIT test projections;
  • Comply with internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure controls for current and deferred taxes;
  • Assist with research and implementation of tax planning strategies;
  • Prepare and manage support for external income tax audits;
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis and management reporting;
  • Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING:   
  • CPA with at least 4 years of related Canadian corporate income tax related practical experience and working towards completion of CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course;
  • Working knowledge of tax accounting under IFRS;
  • Real estate tax knowledge and strong understanding of Canadian tax;
  • Previous experience with SIFT and Mutual Fund Trust rules is an asset.

  • Well rounded individual with good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple assignments in an organized manner;
  • A hands-on individual with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment; and
  • Proficient in Excel, TaxPrep and TaxPrep Forms.
