THE ROLE:  
 
The Corporate Tax Analyst is a member of the Corporate & Indirect Tax team, reporting to the Director, Corporate & Indirect Tax. The position includes exposure to all activities associated with tax compliance and tax provision process for the Company. It also includes ensuring compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure controls for current and deferred tax provision, and that all tax documentation, reports and filings are completed for all legal entities within the corporate group. 
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO: 
  • Prepare corporate income tax returns for all legal entities. 
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of tax related accounting and external financial reporting. 
  • Prepare current and deferred tax provision, including relevant supporting documents. 
  • Prepare legal entity financial statements for tax return filings. 
  • Comply with internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure controls for current and deferred taxes. 
  • Prepare support for external income tax audits. 
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis and management reporting. 
  • Assist with tax research as required. 
  • Participate in special projects and take on other duties as assigned. 
     

WHAT YOU BRING: 

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is required, with working knowledge of Canadian taxation or strong interest in developing in this area.  
  • Familiarity with or interest in the CPA Canada In-Depth tax program. 
  • Solid understanding of tax accounting under IFRS. 
  • Experience in the real estate industry, either from a corporation or real estate investment trust, is an asset.

  • Ability to diagnose an issue, develop solutions to assist decision maker. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate across all levels within and outside the organization. 
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment, dealing with and meeting competing priorities and deadlines. 
  • Well-rounded and hands-on team-player with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. 
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, TaxPrep and TaxPrep Forms.
