THE ROLE: 
 
As a People & Culture Generalist, you will report to the Senior Manager, People & Culture and play a key role in implementing and delivering programs that support our people and strengthen our culture. You will partner across the business to bring initiatives to life, from learning & development to employee engagement, helping every employee have an exceptional employee experience at First Capital.
 
As the ideal candidate for this role, you are a broadly-skilled human resources professional who is self-motivated, results-driven, and brings a track record of strong teamwork and partnership.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
 
  • Support the delivery of various projects and initiatives, such as the annual performance review process, employee lifecycle surveys, engagement surveys and planning, policy or program changes, training and development initiatives, etc.
  • Manage all employee engagement initiatives, including employee surveys and development and maintenance of action plans, based on employee feedback.
  • Support the design, maintenance, and delivery of our Learning & Development strategy.
  • Identify and create employee development programs.
  • Execute targeted and individualized training programs and support leadership development initiatives across all levels.
  • Serve as the owner of our Learning Management System (LMS), tracking course completion, maintaining content, and creating new learning experiences.
  • Partner with the People & Culture team to develop and implement programs that strengthen employee experience.
  • Lead the administration and continuous improvement of leave of absence programs, including short- and long-term disability, parental leave, worker's compensation and other leave types.
  • Respond to employee inquiries from across Canada with professionalism, empathy, and a solutions mindset.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader People & Culture team; jumping in wherever needed.

WHAT YOU BRING: 
 
  • 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Post-secondary education in Management, Human Resources, or related area. CHRP designation or registration with HRPA (in progress or completed) is an asset.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build relationships with internal and external contacts to identify their needs and effectively influence.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities and meet timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Sense of urgency, with strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and excellent service delivery skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Tech savvy and very comfortable with MS Office and various HR & LMS systems.
  • Love problem solving and working in a team!
