Description

The Design Manager is an integral part of the Marketing department in establishing and managing the brand across FC Dallas and North Texas SC, concerts and events put on by Toyota Stadium, Toyota Soccer Complex, MoneyGram Soccer Park, Frisco Bowl, and National Soccer Hall of Fame properties. This position, along with their team, will translate concepts and ideas into designs for branding, campaign conception, apparel design, web and social graphics, promotions, and packaging for FC Dallas and its properties through a high-level understanding of design concepts, principles, and processes.

Working under the direction of Marketing Leadership, they will manage design project workflow and communication across the enterprise, as well as present and pitch creative design concepts to multiple levels of stakeholders. Collaborating with internal departments, they will also serve as lead photographer for shoots, games, and events.

Each candidate must provide a portfolio for review. Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of design, motion graphics and photography for a variety of projects to be used in mobile, web, social, print, and environmental graphics.
  • Communicate project timelines and approvals with internal stakeholders, including resolving any challenges collaboratively.
  • Create and adhere to brand standards, campaign style guides, and various other high-level design project requests including environmental and logo design.
  • Collaborate with Marketing department to develop and implement internal and external marketing goals with graphics through traditional and non-traditional platforms.
  • Incorporate brand standards compliance and creative direction across all materials generated internally and externally.
  • Identify reusable solutions for repeated design needs.
  • Oversee design of large corporate initiative projects (i.e., campaigns, re-brands, uniform design).
  • Create photography shot lists and collaborate with internal stakeholders to plan event photography or photoshoots.
  • Provide or manage real-time editing and exporting of photos at events as needed.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in online systems for project management system and photo database.
  • Oversee and maintain standardization of department archives and equipment (Design and photography).
  • Source and maintain vendor and freelance relationships, including managing schedule, deliverables, and payment.
  • Provide developmental resources to other content team members through skill-share and collaboration.
  • Manage and develop Graphic Designers, Graphic Design Intern, and/or Photography Intern.
  • Serve as a liaison effectively with clients and other team members.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Adept at giving and receiving constructive feedback with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willing to work nights, weekend, and occasional irregular hours in different weather conditions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Graphic Design or related field.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a senior graphic design role with a strong portfolio of self-produced work, and 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Must have knowledge of Mac and Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and Lightroom).
  • Experience editing, organizing, and maintaining an extensive photo database.
  • Experience working with print vendors and knowledge of printing process with the ability to see projects from concept to completion (brochures, print, web advertisements, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of layout, print, prepress, digital, and typography fundamentals.
  • Experience with location photography and lighting a plus.
  • Motion Graphics experience required.
  • Copywriting experience a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20lbs and sit, stand, bend, or walk for long periods of time.
