The role:

The Production Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the local Production team (Logistics, Styling, Photography, Planning and Process Engineering) in Los Angeles. With a focus on communication, team leadership, strategy, operational execution and reporting analysis, this role reports into the VP of Operations in North America with a dotted line reporting structure into the Global Digital Production Director based in Guimarães, Portugal. A significant part of the responsibility is to liaise cross functionally with other teams both globally and locally to ensure that the Los Angeles studio is executing a fluid strategy that enables the team to produce beautiful, high-quality assets. Ultimately, these assets will enable our boutique and brand partners to get their product online efficiently and effectively to our platform to reach our customers.

What you’ll do:

TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Work with a variety of local and global stakeholders including the Head of Account Management, Head of Business Development, Head of Partner Success, Head of Planning and People Team to support significant seasonal peaks and longer-term business growth 
  • Communicate with, listen to, motivate, coach, develop and positively influence your team and peers
  • Ensure effective performance management is conducted and development plans identified for the entire team
  • Recruit and retain highly talented employees to ensure all department hiring goals are achieved.
  • Liaise with the office management & building management to ensure the physical & supply needs of the studio are met

STRATEGY

  • Control a defined budget with responsibility for associated cost manage report to VP of Operations and Global Digital Production Director on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations and Global Digital Production Director on strategy for the team, making recommendations based on expertise
  • Translate strategy into a tactical and operational plan, and effectively communicate to team and build, lead and direct a team to execute
  • Work closely with both local and global teams to understand areas of synergy and drive contribution to the overall Farfetch strategy

OPERATIONAL EXECUTION

  • Drive the rapid delivery of digital assets and oversee workflow development and implementation over the local studio operations
  • Ensure that all aspects of product logistics are well developed and maintained to ensure a high level of efficiency and quality
  • Identify best practices and deliver significant operational and scale efficiencies while also focusing on quality and aesthetic
  • Communicate with key stakeholders in cross-functional departments to exchange critical information and operational processes;

REPORTING & ANALYSIS

  • Define metrics/KPIs aligned with business area strategy and analyze KPIs to identify potential efficiency improvements and determine solution for at-risk areas 
  • Be the ambassador for our continuous improvement system by fostering an environment where change and improvements are everybody responsibility to deliver optimal business development
  • Support the execution of engineering activities that support production operations and process strategy;
  • Identify production process issues and find new process solutions with partnership from both global and local teams

Who you are:

  • You have proven experience leading large teams in a high volume / high quality, operationally-focused environment
  • Proven success with change management, effective communication and team leadership
  • Knowledge and experience in production or supply chain processes (Lean, Kaizen, or equivalent)
  • Technical knowledge and practical experience analysing process & performance-oriented data
  • You have a strong, mature presence with ability to engage and inspire at all levels of the organization
  • You possess extensive people management experience
  • You are an innovative, commercial, and strategic thinker
  • You have the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage high levels of pressure 
  • You have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • You are comfortable liaising at all levels within the business
  • You have previous experience successfully managing large financial budgets
