Position Summary: The Patient Collections Specialist is responsible for handling inbound and outbound patient phone calls in an effort to resolve outstanding balances. This position also reviews and mails patient statements, sets up payment plans, and proposes accounts for bad debt.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all functions related to the collection of payment on patient accounts.
- Communicates directly with patients regarding their financial responsibility for services.
- Handles inbound and outbound phone calls from internal and external customers, answers questions, take payments and resolves issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

- Assists to drive “Five Star” clinic performance.

- If applicable, wears appropriate PPE as outlined by relevant policy and procedures.
- Demonstrates compliance with all state, federal and all other regulatory agency requirements.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all medical records, PHI, and PII.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
- Two years clerical experience in a health care setting required. Experience in a call center like environment preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Continually required to sit; continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity; continually required to talk or hear.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Occasionally lift and/or move more than 15 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust or focus.
Hourly Compensation Range: $18.00 - $20.00
