    • Hourly Compensation: $48 - $60 depending on experience.

Position Overview: The Biostatistician supports Family Care Center’s Research Department by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting behavioral health data for publication in reputable, peer-reviewed scientific journals. This role contributes directly to manuscript development, including drafting the Methods and Results sections, and preparing all related tables, charts, and figures. The Biostatistician applies advanced statistical techniques to large datasets, including electronic health records (EHRs), to generate meaningful insights that advance the organization’s research objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Conducts statistical analyses for behavioral health research studies, including retrospective and prospective designs, using SAS, SPSS, and/or R Studio.
  • Determines appropriate statistical tests and analytical strategies based on specific research questions and data characteristics.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to obtain, organize, and prepare large datasets (including EHR data) for analysis.
  • Assists with survey design and other data collection methods to ensure alignment with planned analyses.
  • Writes clear and accurate Methods and Results sections for manuscripts, ensuring compliance with journal-specific statistical reporting requirements in collaboration with external interns (as applicable).
  • Develops and formats high-quality tables, figures, and visualizations for medical publication in accordance with journal standards.
  • Interprets statistical findings and communicates results to technical and non-technical audiences within the research team.
  • Follows all Family Care Center research standard operating procedures, as well as ethical and safety standards for research data management.
  • Responds to reviewer comments related to statistical analyses and contributes to revisions as needed throughout the manuscript review and publication process.

 

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of one year of demonstrated experience preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication, including authoring the Methods and Results sections required; two years’ experience in clinical research in psychiatry or behavioral health strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing/creating figures and tables for publications required.
  • Proficient in at least one major statistical software package (SAS, SPSS, or R Studio). Must have access to and maintain a personal or institutional license for SAS or SPSS; R Studio proficiency is acceptable using the free version.
