Position Overview:

The Construction Manager is responsible for all aspects of construction on Extenet projects including on-site management, coordination of subcontractors, OEM installers and customer representatives. Represent Extenet as the expert on construction issues relating to DAS and small cell projects, including public right-of-way oDAS and Small Cells, along with the associated outside plant construction methods. Oversight will include activities related to above- and below-ground fiber installation, hub construction, node construction and related utility make-ready. Ensure all assigned projects are completed according to mutually agreed upon timeline of customer and Extenet. Ensure Project Managers and customers are aware of issues that will impact project completion or cost. Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with Extenet policies and procedures in support of Extenet objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Construction Site Visits and Oversight: Make regular trips to sites during construction including bid walk, precon walk, in-progress site visits, punch walks and construction closeout.
  • Communication with Project Manager: Ensure the Project Manager is updated daily on the status of construction and aware of any issues that will impact project cost, quality or timely completion.
  • Site Tracker Maintenance: Ensure Site Tracker is Updated daily.
  • Adherence to Construction Standards: Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Extenet construction standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Documentation Management: Ensure accurate and complete files are maintained for projects and appropriate closeout documents are distributed in a timely manner and are in accordance with corporate and customer standards.
  • Accurate Project Tracking: Ensure that all jobs are maintained in a project tracking system with complete accuracy.
  • Safety and Quality Assurance: Act as Extenet safety observer and Quality Assurance representative while at the site ensuring compliance with Extenet safety program and related workmanship practices.
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the dynamic needs of the Field Operations Department.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of telecommunications/wireless construction experience.
  • Knowledge of Outside Plant Construction techniques (aerial & underground).
  • Familiarity with test equipment and techniques for performing RF Sweep test, OTDR, Power Meter and Passive Intermodulation (PIM) testing.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Project Budget Expertise: Knowledge of budget development and execution.
  • Construction Management Expertise: Knowledge of construction management process.
  • Site Acquisition Expertise: Knowledge of site acquisition procedures, including regulatory and permitting processes.
  • Blueprints Understanding: Strong skills in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Workflow Resolution: Able to direct and diagnose workflow problems, critical paths and institute remedies.
  • Customer-Centric Orientation: Customer service orientation with a strong problem-solving approach – strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Proficiency: Strong computer skills – MS office and project management software knowledge.
  • Travel: Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Contractor Status:

This position is a 6-month standard contract role with the potential for extension or conversion based on project needs and individual performance. Please note that as a contractor, you will not be eligible for Extenet’s benefits such as holiday pay and insurance coverage.
