We are one of the first all-remote companies with 2,000+ team members utilizing our virtual office called eXp world. This role is work-from-anywhere in South Africa
Fully remote from South Africa: Working hours based on Pacific USA business hours schedule.
Schedule: Five days per week, 17:00 - 02:00 / 5:00 PM - 2:00 AM South Africa Standard Time. 
Contract: This is a 6 months contract role with potential to renew upon mutual agreement.
Total Pay: The total pay is between 30,000 ZAR - 35,000 ZAR per month maximum, and is dependent upon location, experience, skills, and training.

What you will do: 
The Trust Accountant is responsible for the recording and reporting of multiple trust bank accounts. This position operates under the direction of the Trust Accounting Supervisor. Responsibilities also include ensuring all trust accounting processes are undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements, while maintaining reporting and analyses of balances across all trust bank accounts daily, ensuring monies are transacted within appropriate deadlines. In addition, this position will provide backup support to other accountants in the department and will assist on special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain multiple trust accounts to ensure accurate and complete accounting of transactions in accordance with specific regulatory requirements.
  • Review and/or process all daily cash movement requests such as remittances, wire transfers, eChecks and disbursements by monitoring, updating and posting system registers. 
  • Daily recording of escrow related transactions and activities in the company system of record which will require close contact with state brokers, agents, and account managers.
  • Attend weekly state meetings.
  • Identify and research trust account discrepancies. 
  • Ensure proper handling of trust accounts and proper enforcement of escheatment laws.
  • Assist with the development of new processes, policies, or procedures to advance the controls and accounting environment within trust accounting. 
  • Liaise with company accounting and finance staff to ensure that activity is being properly recorded into the company’s books and records.
  • Maintain database integrity and ensure accuracy of record keeping.
  • Assist in creating trust reports and analyses.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations. 
  • Partner with Accounting, Operations and Legal teams, as well as ensure that proper internal controls are in place for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Work on special assigned Treasury Operations projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of Finance or Accounting experience
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • 1+ years of experience in the Real Estate industry preferred.
  • Must be able to complete work in an organized, proactive and independent manner to meet all required time frames and commitments.
  • Positive and cooperative with the ability to work with multiple teams, both internal and external.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel application.
  • Extremely detail oriented with a passion for doing tasks right the first time.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks, working efficiently with minimal supervision.
