Excel Academy is a network of 5 schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island that prepares students in grades 5-12 to succeed in high school and college and engage productively in their communities. The majority of our 1,700 students identify as Latinx or Hispanic and will be the first in their families to graduate from college. About the Role
This role is year-round, on-site. The full-time hours for this role are 7:30 AM to 4:15 PM Monday - Friday.
Starting Salary and Start Date: $19.35 - $23.20 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Your Impact
The Operations Assistant is a member of the school’s Operations Team and contributes to the success of the team.
Support the front lobby and main office of the school
- Ensure that the lobby and main office reflect a professional, tidy appearance
- Greet visitors and maintain visitor log
- Sort and distribute staff mail
- Maintain a stock of office supplies
- Monitor attendance and follow up with families on absences and tardies
Manage the school’s nutrition program
- Place weekly orders for the nutrition program through the school’s nutrition vendor, ensuring timeliness and accuracy
- Manage the school’s kitchen by rotating stock and ensuring the freshness of the food that is served
- Serve breakfast and lunch to students daily
- Track inventory of meals received
- Manage the compliance of the school’s nutrition program
Provide administrative support
- Provide support in assembling mailings and student supplies distribution each quarter
- Monitor the Copy Room for cleanliness
- Restock the Copy Room and classrooms with supplies
- Support the Operations Associate, as required
Serve as a productive member of Excel’s Operations Team
- Support in-building operations projects as needed
- Participate in weekly Operations Team meetings
- Participate in Operations Team professional development
- Serve as a productive member of the Excel Community
- Participate in generating and upholding Excel staff norms
- Provide coverage, as needed
- Follow the appropriate protocol when absent to request coverage
- Meaningfully participate in Operations Team meetings, school PD and Family Conferences
Qualifications
- Spanish & English fluency required
- A high school diploma is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred;
- This role requires ServSafe certification or the ability to become ServSafe certified;

A Typical Day
- 7:30-7:45 AM: Setup the breakfast cart with unitized breakfast and prepare for student arrival
- 7:45-8:00 AM: Serve breakfast and monitor the school’s attendance entry system while greeting students at arrival.
- 8:00-9:00 AM: Reconcile attendance for the day in the Student Information System and follow-up with families who have absent or tardy students, while monitoring the Main Office for phone calls and visitors
- 9:00-9:30 AM: Turn on the ovens to preheat to prepare lunch
- 9:30-10:00 AM: Check on the Copy Room to restock copy paper, remove empty boxes, and restock supplies
- 10:00-11:00 AM: Heat up lunches in the ovens and prepare the meal carts for lunch service
- 11:00-12:30 PM: Serve lunch to students in the classroom
- 12:30-1:00 PM: Breakdown the lunch carts and discard any perishable food. Rotate food in the school’s kitchen to ensure freshness
- 1:00-1:30 PM: Receive delivery of the next day’s meal and check the inventory
- 1:30-3:30 PM: Monitor the front office for guests and phone calls. Complete tasks and project work
- 3:30-4:15 PM: Support with dismissal in the Main Office
