Position Summary: 
 
EVgo is seeking a Permitting Manager for our Development Engineering team. The Permitting Manager will be the main accountable resource for permitting requirements originating from the design and development teams and will work directly with jurisdictions to bring projects through the permitting process. 
 
The candidate must have an aptitude for and interest in large-scale project development in a rapidly growing, competitive, and dynamic marketplace. Candidates must have a strong understanding of large-scale, complex, project siting and permitting processes. EV experience and/or related energy background strongly preferred. Understanding of, and experience working with utilities, and regulatory entities (federal, state, and local) is highly valued. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Perform a variety of routine and complex clerical, administrative and technical work in the processing and issuance of a variety of permits. 
  • Review and understand federal, state, and local permitting regulations and processes as they relate to potential project sites. Work with design team to facilitate permit drawings and construction documents related to EV Charging sites. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with municipalities, including, but not limited to Code Enforcement Staff, Building Inspectors, Members of City Councils, Planning and Zoning Staffs, Commissions, and various neighborhood groups.  
  • Update notes in an internal database and spreadsheets for all related tasks and manage project status changes. 
  • Maintain process enhancements due to best practices and lessons learned to enhance designs to improve compliance and reduce permitting timelines. 
  • Coordinate and communicate with AHJs, design vendors, and internal permitting stakeholders in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. 
  • Coordinate with Policy team on local escalations requiring elected official engagement. 
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable experience in permit coordination, expediting, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving mentality.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, independent, and able to manage shifting priorities 
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $86,000.00 USD to $100,000.00 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
