Responsibilities:
  • Own mechanical hardware design and lead development of the DC Fast Charger builds.
  • Responsible for maintaining BOM and sourcing components.
  • Deliver designs that meet cost and performance targets.
  • Responsible for releasing 2D/3D drawings, schematics, and tracking version control.
  • Hands-on design and validation of prototype hardware.
  • Source and manage suppliers including enclosures, chassis, and electrical parts.
  • Perform trade studies and testing for various system components to balance performance and costs.
  • Actualize Industrial Design Intent with emphasis on Customer facing Class A surfaces and UI/UX features.
  • Ensure design maturity through characterizations and test builds on prototype hardware.
  • Define and Support Manufacturing EOL tests procedures.
  • Work cross functionally with Systems and Software teams to drive hardware and test requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • BS or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • +8 years hardware design experience within Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial or consumer electronics fields.
  • Experience sheet metal fabrication, injection molded plastics, thermal design, Class A Surfaces.
  • Strong proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD modeling with SolidWorks or similar software packages.
  • Experience with UL and NEC and related standards that influence mechanical design.
  • Working Knowledge of High Voltage systems, Power Electronics and Liquid Cooled Cable systems.
  • Proficiency on necessary test and measurement tools (Oscilloscope, Multimeters, Thermal DAQs)
  • Be a good self-starter, have a strong ability to deal with ambiguity, establish priorities, and proceed with objectives with limited supervision.
  • Have good organizational skills and an ability to multi-task.
  • Occasional domestic and international required.
Desired Qualifications: 
  • CAE simulation experience with Finite Element or Thermal Modeling is a plus.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux devices is a plus.
 
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is $130,000 USD to $140,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer discretionary target cash bonuses, restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval), and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, unbounded paid time off including parental leave, and a 401(k).
