PlugShare is the world’s favorite EV app, with a community of over 3MM drivers around the globe who rely on us to plan their journeys and public charging stops. Drivers, automakers, utilities, and the rest of the EV category rely on data from our comprehensive public charging dataset to power their navigation systems and guide their decision-making. We amplify the voice of the driver through PlugInsights, the world’s largest survey research panel of EV owners and leasers, and developed Pay with PlugShare (PWPS), a mobile payment platform enabling seamless and reliable payment for multiple charging networks through a single app. Recently, we also launched in-app and web advertising and digital marketing services to give marketers access to the largest EV driver audience anywhere.

Position Summary

The Advertising Sales Director’s main role is to deliver revenue by driving sales for PlugShare’s in-app and web advertising. The position is salaried and includes a bonus program based on the achievement of sales goals. The Sales Director needs to be a self-starter capable of working independently and engaging directly with senior leaders internally and externally.  


  • Drive direct and programmatic sales within our owned app and web properties, mainly in the US and Canada.
  • Lead and update research on the category and develop and maintain a list of potential client targets by industry (automotive, utilities, charging networks, government), green energy firms, etc.).
  • Create marketing strategies, tactics, and support materials, including live presentations.
  • Create and manage outbound client-targeted sales campaigns
  • Be a lead voice in client sales presentations, working in conjunction with senior management.
  • Create, monitor, and revise metrics for success.
  • Provide feedback on the product in an effort to constantly improve and deliver growth

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a senior sales role in a media or data-oriented sales environment, including advertising sales.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully selling to advertising media buying/planning agencies and/or clients
  • Extensive network and passion for growing it; must have a customer-facing experience that has delivered results.
  • A 4-Year degree or commensurate experience in a relevant field
  • Excellent communications ability. Strong verbal and writing skills are essential.
  • An able and imaginative user of presentation tools like PowerPoint, Prezi, Keynote. Graphics skills are a big plus.
  • Exceptional team player who can flourish working in a collegial environment as deliver work on their own
  • Intellectually curious, desire and ability to learn new content and concepts and be able to think creatively
  • Experience with Salesforce or other sales tracking/CRM platforms.
  • Experience managing outbound email marketing campaigns.
  • We value experience in (or passion for) electromobility, clean-tech, and renewable energy.
