The Opportunity
Everyday Health Group is looking for a Senior Health Editor with a passion for health and wellness to ideate, assign, edit, publish, and optimize original editorial content for its network website and app Lose It!. 

EHG’s mission is to empower and inspire people to live their healthiest lives every day, and as part of the team creating content for Lose It!, this individual should have a particular interest in healthy weight management through diet and lifestyle.

The applicant should have strong, demonstrated digital storytelling and editing skills, as well as a familiarity with evolving SEO best practices. EHG editors are responsible for working on a wide range of content, including guides, features, blog posts, personal profiles, and news. This specific individual should be a creative, independent editor with the ability to prioritize and excel in a deadline-driven environment. The applicant should have strong communication and project management skills and should be comfortable working cross-functionally with departments such as Content Strategy/SEO and Audience and Channel Marketing, along with external freelance editors and writers, to meet project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help strengthen the Lose It! voice and tone and integrate it into new content 
  • Recruit team of freelance writers with experience interviewing experts, interpreting scientific research for a lay audience, and covering subjects including diet, nutrition, recipes, weight loss, fitness, and emotional wellness. 
  • Collaborate with the Lose It! Marketing and Everyday Health editorial team to generate story ideas, assign, and edit high-quality, engaging, SEO-friendly, and medically accurate content
  • Work with the Lose It! Marketing Team to ensure content contains updated and relevant product guidance
  • Update and optimize existing content using SEO research tools
  • Manage editorial workflow through publication, including working with the Lose It! Marketing team, SEO, photo/design, medical review, copy edit, and production
  • Use data and SEO guidance to inform content decisions
  • Collaborate on strategic content with other departments, e.g. Lose It! Marketing Team, SEO Team, Medical Reviewers, Photo Editors, Content Editors, and Strategists as needed
  • Collaborate with social media, programming, and newsletter teams on the promotion of content programs

Job Qualifications

  • 7+ years of digital editing, including experience with an online Health, Wellness, News and/or Lifestyle brand
  • Strong background in health content, including diet and nutrition, and the ability to distill complex scientific information into easily understandable and engaging information for users
  • Strong editorial judgment
  • Familiarity with content marketing 
  • Demonstrated experience writing display copy for landing pages and newsletters, and editing in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience recruiting and managing freelance writers 
  • Contacts and sources in the health and wellness space such as HCPs, nonprofits, and credentialed wellness influencers, as well as experienced freelance writers
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and editorial standards, and dexterity in adapting to dynamic guidelines in these areas
  • Ability to lead large projects and handle multiple projects at once under tight deadlines 
  • Strong organizational ability, good verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure
  • Experience working in a CMS
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing or related field
