Wage Range: $26.91 - $43.05 per hour

Remote in Washington State only

Job Summary:
Abstracts, analyzes, and assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes to inpatient, ambulatory, and outpatient accounts by using either computerized or manual systems. Supports external and internal review activities and assists the business department in coding and reimbursement issues. Acts as a liaison to medical staff and other hospital department staff in the interpretation of coding conventions and guidelines. Maintains departmental defined quality and productivity standards. This position assists managers with workflow and staffing functions.
 

Primary Duties:
1. Reviews inpatient, Emergency department, outpatient, Home Health/Hospice and ancillary medical records for pertinent and justifiable medical information to assign classification (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS) and reimbursement codes that adhere to coding and sequencing guidelines and conventions.
2. Uses encoder/grouper and leveling software and other Evergreen’s computer systems to abstract and collect codes and other defined data from the medical records.
3. Reviews professional charges entered in Cerner and approve charges based on Health Information Management (HIM) department and Medical Staff approved criteria.
4.
Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
• CPC, CCS-P, CCS, Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• Experience in CPT and/or ICD-10 coding and documentation in facility setting.

DESIRED for the position:
• 5 years coding experience working in an acute or ambulatory facility care setting.
