Wage Range: $145,204 - $232,273 per year
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Job Summary
Responsible for inpatient pharmacy operations, ensuring effective implementation of process changes. Ensures adherence to standard work that supports the pharmaceutical care provided to EvergreenHealth’s patients. Participates in and partners with pharmacy leadership team to establish and support safe and efficient processes for the inpatient pharmacy by providing supervision of pharmaceutical dispensing throughout inpatient care areas. Facilitates the implementation of systematic changes that enhance the delivery of pharmaceutical care, improve quality, and optimize customer service within the inpatient pharmacy, while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Oversees pharmacy daily workflow and scheduling, including direct supervision of Pharmacy Technician I and II staff, and works in partnership with the Pyxis/Logistics Inventory Management team and the QA & Research Pharmacist to implement operational efficiencies.

Primary Duties
  1. Contributes to the development of short and long-range goal setting for inpatient pharmacy services.
  2. Ensures a thorough and current understanding of central pharmacy workflows through the performance of Pharmacist staff duties each pay period as needed.
  3. Coordinates pharmacy medication dispensing throughout the organization with the Pharmacist-Pyxis Administrator and Automation Technician.
  4. Coordinates drug shortage management with the Automation Technician.
  5. Oversees sterile compounding and medication pump libraries in collaboration with the QA & Research Pharmacist.
  6. Ensures proper controlled substance ordering, documentation, dispensing, and diversion prevention strategies are in place and adhered to, in conjunction with the Pharmacist-Pyxis Administrator, Automation Technician and QA & Research Pharmacist.
  7. Provides pharmacy and medication operations consultation and support to pharmacist, nursing, organization leaders and providers upon request. Provides after-hours consultations to the inpatient pharmacy team as needed.
  8. Assists the pharmacy leadership team in developing, implementing, and maintaining pharmacy policies and procedures and supports review of other disciplines’ policies or protocols as they relate to pharmaceuticals.
  9. Works closely with the Pharmacy Inpatient Manager and the QA & Research Pharmacist to coordinate the orientation, training and development of pharmacy staff and ensures documentation of training.
  10. Responsible for writing and the timely posting of technician schedules, including PTO and other time off approvals.
  11. Works with the D1 pharmacist on daily coverage plans in the event of a sick call.
  12. Responsible for setting technician staff performance expectations, providing annual reviews, addressing performance issues, and taking corrective action.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
              
REQUIRED for the position:
  • Washington state Pharmacist license
  • 2 years hospital pharmacist experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS – American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • Math skills necessary to perform drug dosing and compounding calculations
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills to effectively communicate with pharmacy leadership, staff, providers, and others
DESIRED for the position:
  • Preceptor license
  • 5 years hospital pharmacy experience
  • Management / supervisory experience in hospital pharmacy setting.
