Wage Range: $24.25 - $37.23 per hour

Job Summary
Responsible for the care, handling and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s).  Assists with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician in Endoscopy. Assists with the assessment of patient needs and follows through with the designated plan of action.

 


Primary Duties

  1. Responsible for the preparation and set-up of rooms for procedures, and the take-down and clean up post procedure.
  2. Responsible for assisting the physician during procedures, including specimen retrieval and therapeutic procedures.
  3. Responsible for maintaining endoscopic equipment and accessories in good working order.
  4. Trouble shoots and reports malfunctions to supervisor.
  5. Tracks location of equipment and maintains the inventory of equipment.
  6. Reports/compiles maintenance and service requisitions for equipment repairs.
  7. Cleans and disinfects scopes and reusable equipment according to EvergreenHealth guidelines, organizational policy and procedure, and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU).
  8. Stocks and maintains appropriate level of supplies for each procedure room and scope disinfecting room.
  9. Participates in Quality Improvement activities and assists with compliance with regulatory agencies.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

License, Certification, Education or Experience

REQUIRED for the position:

  • High School graduate or equivalent or applicable coursework to be applied to obtain required WA State Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) - Certification.
  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Washington.
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS – American Heart Association by start date
  • Familiarity with digestive tract and respiratory disease processes
  • Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting
  • Ability to diagnosis technical difficulties or problems with equipment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
  • Ability to appropriately interpret information relative to the patient’s age- specific needs
  • Ability to communicate data reflective of the patient’s status, delegated tasks and/or functions
  • Demonstrates ability to apply knowledge of basic patient care techniques and procedures in the care of the specific age group to which assigned.


DESIRED for the position:

  • One year experience working in gastroenterology or endoscopy related field
  • Completion of SGNA Associates Program and Advanced Associates Program
