Wage Range: $75,837 - $121,306 per year

Job Summary: 
Responsible for providing overall support to the hospital system’s preparedness efforts including the developing and maintaining of emergency operations plans and procedures, planning and executing training and exercises, and promoting emergency preparedness and safety throughout the organization 
Primary Duties:
  • Provides leadership for Emergency Preparedness activities in conjunction with the Medical Director for Preparedness and the organizational Emergency Preparedness Committee.
  • Chairs the Emergency Preparedness Committee, creates agendas, documents action items for follow-up.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Director for Preparedness and the Emergency Preparedness Committee to ensure that all policies and procedures necessary to address emergency or disaster situations are in place and operational.
  • Conducts an annual hazard vulnerability assessment to determine the organization's risk for natural, technological, human-caused, hazardous materials, incidents. Ensures that the organizational plans and procedures reflect the identified risks from the hazard vulnerability assessment.
  • Collaborates with leaders in the creation, development, education, training and implementation of disaster plans and policies that are in alignment with regulatory agencies and the state of Washington.
  • Collaborates with other agencies, including but not limited to, local healthcare providers, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), fire departments, hospitals, law enforcement agencies and emergency management, to maintain and update public health emergency plans and develop MOUs.
  • Facilitates community coordination and collaboration including recruiting, developing relationships with, and maintaining a group of influential and relevant local and state partners and stakeholders to assure a coordinated response to public health emergencies.
  • Establishes a schedule of training and exercises to test emergency plans and procedures. Participate with community partners in community, regional or statewide exercises maintaining compliance with accrediting agencies. Document results of exercises, identify performance gaps and create an action plan for mitigation.
  • Assumes and performs assigned role in Incident Command during exercises and real-world emergencies.
  • Oversees the organizational Emergency Response Team, ensuring that members are trained and able to respond to organizational emergencies. Facilitates team members attendance in the Hospital Emergency Response Team training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Alabama.
  • Identifies team members and facilitates the yearly EvergreenHealth team attendance at the Center for Domestic Preparedness training in Anniston, Alabama.
  • Ensures the Emergency Preparedness Program functions within the allocated budget and that appropriate requests are made to ensure sufficiency of resources.
  • Responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of ongoing tasks that result in a safe and secure environment and provides for health and wellness care across the continuum during an emergency.
  • Represents EvergreenHealth Emergency Preparedness at organizational, local, regional, and state meetings.
  • Identifies and maintains contact information for community response partners and identifies how the organization will be notified of an emergency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

License, Certification, Education, or Experience: 
 
REQUIRED for the position:
  • Associate degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of healthcare emergency preparedness experience
  • 1 year leadership and/or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations including DOH, TJC, DNV
  • Knowledge of hospital/system policies and established confidentiality policies.
  • Maintain additional qualifications as determined by the Emergency Preparedness Committee.
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider certification by date of hire.
 
DESIRED for the position:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Successful completion of FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800.
  • Successful completion of the FEMA Emergency Management Institute Professional Development Series
  • Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP) certification
  • Completion of FEMA Healthcare Facility Patient Decontamination Course
  • Maintain license/credentials related to applicable professional field.
